Hate to bring Genshin or hoyo into this, but this is one of the reasons why i like Kuro more. They're not afraid of showing love between characters, they tell you straight in the face " yes, this character loves the MC or X character. " without trying to hide or give hints, they just slap it into the main story and make it canon. But in Genshin and sometimes in HSR too, it almost feels like they're afraid of making characters show these feelings towards us. Even with characters which they heavily hint that they have romantic feelings towards us. I heard people say that theres no room for romance in the story, and it wouldn't fit the MC, but feeling and showing love is one of the strongest feelings in our being, of a human being. Someone who doesn't show any kind of affection or love at all in a whole story or life, or even attraction towards someone, just feels inhumane.. and it's not realistic. Unless that's what you're going for. Sometimes i think it's ok to bring a character who isn't afraid to say they're in love with X, instead of hiding everything behind " they're just really good friends "

Kuro is devious, at the beginning of the patch they show Yangyang and Rover being slightly closer than before, then they make Shorekeeper become the closest thing to Rover's true love and at the same time they prepare to release Camelia in the next patch. Genshin was just satisfying some by giving players ships materials at every region, but WuWa is playing with fire rn, hyped to see what they intend to do with it because it can't be an accident when it happens in the same version

The thing isn't that they can't but rather that it's simply too late, the community has pretty savage parts and so creating a bond between two characters can cause them many controversies, just look at Simulanca; Wanderer talked to Nilou and it was enough for the CN community to attack the game and review bomb it while on the other side the they were also those who complained about the same Nilou being too "familiar" with the traveler. They have just too much to lose by creating relationships especially in Genshin, at least Tears of Themis and Honkai Impact 3rd showed from the beginning that love existed in the game and so someone who dislikes it just won't play
