Hi there... Without seeing it it's hard to give advice but they do root pretty easy... Best thing to try is put it in water and place it near a window.. you can try cutting it just below a leaf node but they do pretty much push out roots from many places if you have it in enough water 👍 how long is the cutting and how many leaves does it have and are the leaves green? If the leaves are not green it will more then likely die you need a cutting with green leaves 👌 hope this helps I'm on Facebook so send me a photo

Hi my man 😊👍 I did look at it to airlayer but I might wait to see if I can get another one of these with a better graft first 👌😏🙏

Hi, fab video and great detailed info. Thank you. Will the last 3 small willows from the Range grow into trees similar to the first 2 or are they shrubs. Am looking for same willows but more of a shrub than a tree. Any ideas please. Many thanks.

Hiya... The ones from range could grow into trees with training for sure. It would be best to put it into the ground so it has as much room as possible. It would take a few years too. It would be a case of choosing a brance to become the main leader... the main trunk of the tree. These can be shrub like too just trim them back. If cut after a leaf node they produce 2 branches. How that helps.

Lovely couple of trees Jay and I have to say that I like that Flamingo willow! Imagine that as a large shrub or bush, with those new bright salmon pink leaves. What a sight that would be? That graft joint does look a bit crude and why so high up? I would try a few cuttings Jay. If they're anything like common willow, they will root like crazy. Stick a few in a glass of water and see what happens. All the best with these!

Great video..Yours looks so compact and neat.. I got my baby in spring and it has exactly 16 arms 1-2ft long 😅 Clearly needs it's first proper haircut but I'm worried late June is too late 😬

Depending on your Geo Location, June may be ok for pruning. I have left mine this year as the UK weather so far this year has been crap. One of my big Salix had pests so it lost a lot of growth. Also too much sun can really damage these too due to the white / pink leaves not being able to the work green leaves can. I've found moving them in a more shady spot helps and they recover fairly quick. The trick with pruning is to stop sooner rather then later. If you prune too late in the year, the new growth will die back as it has not had time to harden off. So the goal is to give enough time for new branches to harden before Autumn. Good luck 😀👍🙏

I went to buy one of these today from my local garden centre and on inspection they all look to have been grafted so I guess this is normally done to turn it into a small tree rather than a small bush? I couldn't figure out why they were a just 1 single tree but I guess that's why it is done? Does the main stem grow and get thicker by chance?

Hiya... The Salix Integra have narrow trunks which is why they graft them on a thicker willow stock. I have managed to airlayer the entire thing from the root stock, with the aim of trying to bonsai it. The air layer was successful and I have left it in a large pot for now to give it chance to grow a healthy root system :) You can also buy them with their original trunks, these are usually platted or twisted around some bamboo. I think I have done a video on 2 of mine in this style.

Hiya Lee! I did leave mine in full sun last year. The only thing to be mindful of is, when the leaves are at the white and pink stage take care they dont get scorched by the sun. I live in a very windy area and have mine in heavy pots. They have done well so far regarding wind. Just keep an eye on those light leaves in the summer heat. Also, and I cant stress this enough, be sure to rotate your trees (if they are in pots). Otherwise you will get uneven growth above and below the soil. (As above so below) Good luck Lee hope this helps 🙏 Jay

These look fantastic quality. Do you give them any feed of any type? Thanks 👊
@zenobibonsai
@zenobibonsai 5 ай бұрын
Hiya.. yes during spring and summer I feed them with just basic feed every couple of weeks. The key with these is , if they are in pots, to watch the root growth. The roots grow pretty quick and if they get too much the leaves start turning brown and then will basically start looking like they are dying. I saved my mother in law's last year because it became pot bound so she decided to plant it in the garden instead of a pot 👍 it's doing really well now

@@grisworldsontour9407 Yes the roots grow very fast and thick.. you have to keep n eye on them... if the leaves start going brown it could be a sign its getting pot bound so will need a bigger pot or root pruning 👍🙏
