I was wondering if making a silicone inlay could be made from those as well?
@NanasHouseDIY2 ай бұрын
Question: Would it be possible to mix up some more black epoxy and use the tip of a pointy tool and touch a dot of black over the little glitter pieces and then give it a light sand. Then give it a very shallow finishing pour in clear. There are not so many that it would be a burden. For the larger areas of glitter, a small sponge or paint brush would work. This was amazing. Just absolutly astonishing. Those lace molds were a huge investment, and for me, they were almost impossible to remove the lace for cakes. I would rather free hand than use them. You never throw away silicone, so they have been collecting dust. When you pulled those lace molds out from your baking drawer, I screamed, "Oh my goodness, Tucker (My Great Grand Cat, Tucker Levi 4-Paws Wrinkle), Grand Nana has 10,000 of those!" You just got suscribed, liked, and sharred.

@glitznglitterbymichelle1 Fantastic. I loved it with the tell tell glitter tail... I am a teacher. Every single day, I have parents ask, how do I log into my childs account? I am currently making nfc chips into key chains, and I am going to say, scan your keychain, the one with the zebra. There will be a video that pops up saying this is how you log into your childs account! I was trying to decide between epoxy and uv...it is such a shallow pour. What I decided after watching your video is to do my rail as you did with the glue. First, I am going to run a bead wall of uv and seal it off and see it that will prevent travel. Then I can drop my chip in the center and finish things up.

you could wrap a tumbler with it, after it's set to make it bend you just dip it in hot water in your sink.. it will be just soft enough to mold it. (BEND it) I wouldn't cut the Mold for the tray just fill your (Cake) mold with Epoxy let it setup CUT the Molded piece to fit the tray mold and Pour over the Molded piece.

Hell, I thought you were somehow going to use the actual mold in the larger resin piece or something to create some kind of I don't know indentations or something I'm not sure what I thought but that wasn't it I've been casting resin in cake molds for the last couple of years. But your peace is beautiful and it turned out great but not at all what I thought you were going to do I don't see how it was anything new sorry don't mean to insult at all just letting you know I was disappointed cuz I thought it was going to be something totally new. If you had added a few flakes of glitter to the black resin, the stray glitter would look more intentional. Making the design and border with black and then using a light or clear background would give a wrought iron effect. If you have, or can find letter molds, then making a name plaque would be easy.

I appreciate your excitement but I've been using cake molds for years. They've had a larger selection of molds before resin art became a thing. Also do your pouring in layers . Once the first layer gets somewhat stiff you can start placing your secondary molds into and itll hold by itself and not move. Pour another layer then wait again then pour your final layer. As long as you time it right it wont leave lines. Also with cake molds you can bend them mid dry into whatever 3d design your making. Also you can use holographic film as a back piece of the gold inlay then pour your black final layer and it'll pop more plus the beautiful holographic design

I find it easier to lay the mold face down and then peel the mold off in one direction. The delicate resin will stay on your counter and you won't risk having breakage from pulling on the resin during the un-molding.

This project is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! WOW! Not sure if it's the same thing but Pouring Your Heart Out uses little resin disks in her projects and she doesn't put down any resin to hold them, she just presses them into the mold and, because they are resin, they seem to stick. Just a thought.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 Just in case it wasn't stated.... If you use any silicone mold for resin work you can NEVER use that mold for food/ice/candy.
@khowler7 ай бұрын
I think I would have used a tiny bit of UV resin to weigh down the inlays before pouring the clear. That way you won't have to babysit them. I think the glitter coming up makes it more cohesive and matching since it's not a LOT of glitter peaking into the middle. Though I can't imagine how long you had to sit and baby sit them. I have tried the glue trick a few times myself. Another tip for these are syringes with a small pointed tip. It would have less cleanup. Though it may take longer if you had a really intricut mold. I use syringes for some of my jewelry peices and they turn out so much better with less trimming involved.
@annalisastrickland80447 ай бұрын
GREAT idea!! I actually like the edges where the glitter only slightly *marries* the sides to the bottom. I'm more distracted by the different shades of gold, between the glitter and molded pieces.
@CoddiwomplewithGloria8 ай бұрын
Beautiful. I would allow the glitter layer to set, then put the black on. THEN, remove it from the mold and put the inlays in and top coat. Makes it a two day process. I have the same mold and that is what I did.

I also do the same if want different colour layers ide let first layer cure a bit first not rock hard but cured enough so different layers dont mix . Can get nice effect if 1st layer is clear then place what ever want in my Pieace for eg a picture, flowers, ect then when it cured enough so colures won't mix I then pour my other layers

You've really made a beautiful tray and I actually think the glitter coming over into it is beautiful as I do that on purpose with my edging to tie in with designs on the face . Although I can see why you wanted a clean black background, it's not a fail Good idea to allow the edge to set up at least til tacky.

What I do & I might help others. What I usually do if i was doing something for .e.g. if I was gonna do a tray like this one. if I wanted to do a different colure Resin Edge or a Glitter edge like you have to stop the edge mixing with the center , after I poured the coloured or the glitter, ect around the edge ide either put it into my Resin Curring Machine or just leave it on my table then ide let the resin cure not totaly hard but cured enough so when I poured resin into the rest of the tray no way will it all mix up together
