You know, they were all so fantastic that I wish people would stop arguing and just give gold medals to the top three teams. You are just never going to see a pairs competition like 1994 ever again.

I felt that this was a 2 horse race going into 1994. I didn't feel that G&G did enough to warrant the medal they won as they played it safe. (They had nothing to prove and were full time pros at this point and didn't take any unnecessary risks.) B&E were definitely given the Sale & Pelletier treatment here which may have been payback for getting a bronze for a dreadful performance in 1992.

I loved Lloyd & Isabelle; they were my favorites also! The judges were always prejudiced against them and always favored the Russians even when the Russians made noticeable errors.

It always bothered me they had someone yelling when to change position on the side by side spins. I guess they had to do whatever it took to try and win since their skill level was preschool compared to the Russians. They only won the world title because the Russians didn't have a strong team. They're crazy if they thought they could beat G&G and M&D. So they had a good twist and so they had difficult lifts. That's not enough. They needed better spirals, better spins, better choreography and better polish.

@@private3364 hmm, perhaps most but you couldn't convince me Gordeeva and Grinkov or Mishkutionok and Dmitriev did.

@@keithvnumber1 They probably don't dope in figure skating, including in the singles. There is no benefits to jumping or doing acrobatic moves being big and bulky, as steroids makes you. People say Witt did steroids since she was East German, but I doubt that. She wasn't built like a steroid user at all, and didn't even win with athleticsm anyway.

If you watch G&G’s short program at the 1994 Europeans you can here him call the changes. Only time I’ve ever heard it with G&G.

So glad requirements include minimum side by side triples and a throw triple jump in the short...Makes it much more exciting....
