I am a handbuilder who enjoyed all of your videos. Even the wheel demos, soothing for someone who has an affinity to clay. But I really appreciate these hand building demos. Thank you.

You are such a joy to watch and listen to, like having a friend in the pottery with me. I've been making pottery for 14 years now, but I still learn new things all the time. I'm a wheel thrower at heart, but do enjoy a little bit of handbuilding as well. I was just thinking of throwing my first lamp, and I said "I bet Vaughan has a video!" It was a great video and I can't wait to try it out. Thank you for being a bright light in this world. and for sharing your skills and art with us all.

Thanks Miss Molly, I am happy to help avoid my mistakes, hopefully I can short cut your journey in clay.

Hello Vaughan, I just watched two of your videos now on a dark rainy day here in Iceland. I did watch, a few weeks ago, your video on making these intricate fish stamps and I love to see how you use them. The finished trays are so beautiful. The glazes are amazing! That purple one!!!! Thanks once again for all the work you put in for us to watch, it is so inspiring. 💚💜

Thank you Linda, I hope your winter is kind to you this year. We had a very long Autumn but we are dipping into the freezing zone tonight. Poor flowers.

@@Vsmithpots Thanks Vaughan, we did not get any summer here, so let's hope we'll get a decent winter. I don't mind the cold, it's the blizzards and heavy snowfall, that can be taxing.... My favorite winter weather is what we call in Icelandic "hundslappadrífa", direct translation would be something like dog feet snow.....Lol. It's when the snow flakes are big and fall slowly, making everything magical. I also love a still frosty day when the sun is shining and you can hear every step you take in the snow..... you know the sound. Take care 🙂
@Vsmithpots24 күн бұрын
@@linda.s.gislad I like the snow too, especially because I own plow truck and moving it is easy. It makes a magical wonderland and sitting by the wood stove looking at it is so warming.

I really appreciated your hand building demonstration and your fish roller stamps are incredible! I have question about your trays, how do you prevent them from warping?

Dry the slowly lightly covered in plastic, or in a damp cupboard.

Love the clay rollers. I can't find your tutorial on how you made them. Can you please direct me to the correct video. Thanks
So quick...in making these mugs with your carved stamp. Wondering have you ever had one of your molds break on you when applying pressure to the slab? I know the thicker the stamps the better, I imagine. I think I would make mine cups a bit thinner, because when you add the liquid it might be a bit heavy, are they? So smart you are❤❤❤
@Vsmithpots3 ай бұрын
I think for beginners start thicker, as you gain experience go thinner, there is a point when the roller stamp will cut through the clay.

I just looked through your video playlist and don't see the video where you made these press molds. Is it in that video called Hand Building Speedy Fish Trays that you uploaded a month ago? I've actually been planning on making a set of cups like this but have been busy with other projects. (carpentry)
@streetsmartintelligent3 ай бұрын
The press molds are hand built from a slab, when leather hard carve out your design, curve it. Add your handle, Fire it when dry. At least that's what I can tell from looking at it.

Hey Vaughn, on your trays with the styofoam molds if you wanted your dish to be as deep as the Styrofoam im assuming you would just measure the depth & cut your clay to that depth.. That would make a nice baking dish. I was told by my pottery supplier that you have to use high fire clay for anything going into an oven, low fire clay wouldn't hold up with repeated heating. Is this true? What if the low fire clay had grog in it? My high fires just dont turn out right, so ive given up on anything high fire.

I wonder if you baked in one it would show the image in the bread or cake?
@denisenoble40102 ай бұрын
if you said it in the begining i missed it but the bisc fired print makers, did you say you made a video on how you made them? and another question why did you curve them? are they easier to use? rather than flat pieces, or is it because there is so much detail to transfer. Great video, the trays with the wavy edges was beautiful. thank you Vaughan.
@Vsmithpots2 ай бұрын
Here is the video.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2Omq3affdlqg80si=rCQTGrKpBOFu3VhZ I curve them so it is easier to put a lot of pressure at the contact point. Thanks.
