THIS IS THE BEST 3D face mask I've made! I've been sewing to help a non profit foundation for underprivileged kids and for health care workers and friends and family since March. I've made 4 different styles of the 3D masks - and YOURS is the EASIEST and truly great fitting and comfortable! Thank you very much for sharing!

It's been a while since I"ve made these but going on trip and need them. Decided to brush up and check for video this time (instead of just using the blog). I am SOOOOO glad I did! Thanks for making this vid. I'm one that has struggled with that last step but now looking forward to whipping out several of these today.

Aha! You solved a mystery for me. I used another tutorial where you fold the top/bottom flaps before doing the casing and I was getting bulk on the finished mask. I would bunch around the top of the nose. I think your extra step will take care of that! 💜Thank you!💜

Just made one using material to play with and used "little kid" size and I am not a seamstress but wasn't difficult; however wasn't exactly even though I followed step by step. I'll just keep practicing. Enjoyed this 3D pattern the most! Thank you!

Thank you So much more comfortable and easy to put in the nose bridge . I will say that to increase the effectiveness of the masks I use non woven fusible featherweight Pellon interfacing on both mask and lining (and do not have the interfacing extendin beyond the seam line to reduce bulk . It’s great and removes or lessens the need for a filter. Thank you!

Hi! Did you add 1/4 seam allowance all around?
@emily74273 жыл бұрын
She said in the comments it is included on the pattern BUT the website says to use a 1/4” seam allowance so I have not clue
@newzicg3 жыл бұрын
@@emily7427 I added 1/4 and seem to fit good a bit bigger so I may try to do another one without adding. 🤞
@kecall3 жыл бұрын
@@emily7427 I am late to the conversation, so this may not be helpful now, but there is a difference when sewing instructions say 'add 1/4" seam allowance' or 'use 1/4" seam allowance'. When the instructions state to 'use 1/4" seam allowance', it means that the seam allowance is included in the pattern, but when you sew, you will stitch down 1/4" from the cut edge. Hope that helps to clarify a bit. :)

Random question but I plan to cut this out using my cricut because I don’t have steady hands, what are the dimensions?
@briannewalker40213 жыл бұрын
I think this is one of the best and easiest tutorials I have seen. Unfortunately, when I go to download the pattern, it doesn't fit on to one page. A portion of the mask template prints on the second, deeming this template unusable. I thought it was just my computer, but I've tried it on multiple devices, and it's not making any difference.
@Penelope2223 жыл бұрын
Brianne, if you print the second page and cut the little bit off, then tape it onto the main part, the pattern is then useable. It’s unfortunate that it has to print this way but makers are constrained by the size of normal printer paper so often patterns will go over two pages. The only thing to check is that it’s printing at the correct ratio, hence the 1inch square to check sizing. I printed to A4 paper as I’m Australian and luckily our paper is a tiny bit longer, so I could just trace the extra lines onto one piece of paper.
@briannewalker40213 жыл бұрын
@@Penelope222 Thanks. The issue I have is that some of the top part doesn't print, so I'm not able to see lines. I'm sure a much more talented person could draw/guess where the lines are supposed to go, but I don't trust my ability to do that. I'm still pretty new to sewing! I may be overthinking it! I was able to find a similar template, and then followed this tutorial. I'm pleased with how they came out!

Her tip about folding the pattern in half worked well for me; I was struggling to cut off the little part on page 2 and matching it. The part that is missing on the pattern can then be traced by using the overlap after folding it in half (if that makes sense)

Following along and sewed away thinking instructions were coming for the filter pocket. Now I have to unpick all my top stitching and figure that out. 😖 Great mask but you should have a disclaimer for the filter. In Canada we have been told a filtered mask is the one to wear.

Thank you for the pattern and tutorial; one question: when printing the pattern are you printing it as 100%, actual size, etc? Sometimes that makes a difference in sizing. Again, thanks.
@quirkybeeper3 жыл бұрын
When you print the pattern, there is a black square on the page that should be 1" x 1", just measure it and make sure it's the right size, and that'll ensure the pattern is the right size :)
