I use a heavy-duty Electric Drill as a backup mixer whenever my hand mixer quits in the middle of the job. Saved my ass many times.

Avoid modern plastic plague crap. Choose vintage handmixers - they suffer longer. They can take any struggle & torture, never fail. It's because they were mostly made with metal construction. If you play with them of course you will smell something burning, but it's just sweet scents ; ) (the plastic coatings melting) I know a good channel with excellent example of a vintage mixer tough time: Miss Mixy (ABC-MIX).
