2.5D for me because that is all my old AE can do. The rendering of *.obj is still done in the other program I use so that I have alpha png to import or a series of png to import into AE. Speaking of other, Olive the other reindeer and I wish you and Nina and Bill a happy holiday!

Hey Flo Mein lieber scholli, bei dir kann ich ja doch noch einiges dazu lernen. Jedoch bin ich mitunter nicht der Beste in Englisch. Bei deinem Akzent ist das auch nicht so schlimm. For the most part- it totally depends on the medium- but if you don't have everything in 3D, 2.5D typically looks better, in my opinion. Even in this example, the 2.5D looked better than the 3D. Maybe spice up the sleigh with a few cuts to simulate more depth, but yeah. All and all, this was a great video and I didn't know about the auto-orient function.

Awesome after effects tutorials as always! Is the 3D in the new beta version requiring you to change the composition's 3D render setting to the Cinema 4D render mode? Is says "Mercury 3D" in the bottom right of your viewport, is that what is allowing you to bring in the 3D assets? And if so, how is it? The biggest thing about 3D before was the Cinema4D mode was always so slow.

Yeah... The new render is called Mercury! As far as I can tell it is pretty fast... Maybe like element3d if you were used to that!

@@flo.motion oh awesome! yea, the C4D one was notoriously slow. That's great news! Do you know if it disables some of the other comp functions?, because switching to the C4D mode used to disable certain things.

Hey! Envatondoes not offer 3d elements so far! I use the 3d elements from them for all my 2D and 2.5D animations... As well as for mattepaintings and so on

Where there is novelty - and there always will be in the marketplace - there is an absence of questioning the value of the novelty. This 3D work and the commercial assets aren't too wonderful, but that isn't the point. Pressure on account holders to post KZbin tutorials are immense, and then there is the "silly season".
