There is also 3D graphics on 2D style isometric. Back in the isometric era, consumer PCs weren't as powerful as developer machines, so developers made all graphics in 3D and prerendered them in isometric form.

Fun fact: In Death's Door. The "little crow" is actually a 3 and a half meter giant crow, since everything seems to be scaled up in that game. I think they did that to solve shadow issues when the camera is too far away.

Great video, Tamara! You certainly seem to be carving out a niche in the isometric games space! I liked the bit at the end at the end by the way, it felt like we were seeing your real personality instead of your professional side with the tutorial, not that there's anything wrong with being professional of course. But personally I think you should show more of your personality like that if you can, it made made you seem more relatable and like someone people will care about and want to see do well. Which can be a good thing for a KZbinr of course! The KZbinrs I watch the most are the ones where I almost feel like they're a friend, or someone I could be friends with at least, even if they don't know that I exist haha. Of course there is a danger that you could end up with a stalker or something that way, so it's up to you. I almost forgot to mention, but great job with the editing as well, how long did it take you, if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you so much for such detailed comment! It really warms my heart to read this. I like the last bit of the video too! I am thinking of posting more of such content soon. I am super glad and excited that you enjoyed it! Also, I wanted to say that I feel that those people who comment and chat with me on Discord are somewhat close to friends. I like chatting with my subs when I have free time. Depends on what you include in editing. Finding materials like video clips of games is a big part of this. I would say that it takes me two days to edit a video on average. Thanks again for commenting!

One of the things I've always wonder with 3d isometric games is if developers delete all the object's faces not facing the camera? just to decrease a little the geometry count
@TamaraMakesGames
@TamaraMakesGames Жыл бұрын
Yes, I've seen this done. But those back parts are sometimes necessary if an object or the camera can be rotated

Interestingly, Transistor only makes use of 2d sprites and assets. It does make use of 3d lighting however. Love your videos by the way.

@@TamaraMakesGames I'm trying to figure out what exactly it is if it's 2d with a 3d like image or if it's a 2.5 or straight 3d, if It uses a grid system or beings it's 3d(I'm sure it is) it doesn't need one and, mainly how to set it up to where it's got a timer that collects after so often like it does it simpsons. I'm still new but I've already created a functional settings menu with a slider(haven't figure out how to get the sound on their yet but it works other than that)

Do you know how to make the camera follow only the players 'z' position at an offset instead of following the players every move? I would like for my player to move left and right freely without the camera following. I only want the camera to follow my players' forward position, kind of like color bump 3d
@TamaraMakesGames
@TamaraMakesGames 2 жыл бұрын
It can be achieved by checking if the player has moved on the z axis. Then, neglect the other axes and move the camera to the new position which you get by adding the delta on the z axis.

@@TamaraMakesGames Thanks, I used this code and its working. public Transform player; public Vector3 offset; void LateUpdate() { if (player.position.y < transform.position.y) { transform.position = new Vector3(transform.position.x, transform.position.y, player.position.z) + offset; } } I set offset.z = -2
