Looks like the new Phantom Pro remote includes an integrated controller display. I'm assuming you couldn't use Drone Deploy on that??? And, it doesn't look like you can download additional software on the integrated display. Thoughts? Sorry... newbie here.

Google maps took 6 million machine hours (equiv.) for processing their new maps update. Granted they didnt use one single computer, it took them less than a week. Can this also create 3d objects that can be used in photoshop?? This would be very intriguing to me. I do a bit of compositeing /desgin etc. in Photoshop and haveing realistic 3d objects would make this so much easier. No searching for the perfect stock image from the right angle with matching horizons and stuff. Still the DJI is ridiculously expensive. I may still be tempted to get a new lens or body for that kind of money. (Plus I would really like a higher res on those drone cameras).

Instead of having to fly manually, can't you just tell Drone Deploy to fly over five times: once with the camera pointed down, once with the camera pointed 45 degrees up from north, once with the camera pointed 45 degrees up from south, once with the camera pointed 45 degrees up from east, and once with the camera pointed 45 degrees up from west? Or does Drone Deploy only point the camera down?

I haven't tried the app recently, but at the time, it only flew with the lens pointed down. Any sort of automatic flight would require it to take a lot of unnecessary pictures, unless it had the logic to figure out where taller objects were. Maybe soon!

lol, this could cause all kinds of problems but also be very useful. watch out criminals, you will be spotted easier. but that also means you and/or your drone are in higher risk of danger. And, being that its an app that makes the image then the owners can read your info and use for their own benefit? pros and cons.

We've been using this setup to map the silt buildup in a bay and river. I'm amazed at the 3D capabilities! Primarily we're taking just 2D maps, but the 3D ended up being a bonus. I'm boggled!

Pato Productions yes, p3 adv, pro, p4, Inspire1, and probably the matrice 100, 600, and mavic soon. These models have all have the open sdk that third party apps like DroneDeploy use. I believe the ground sensors are used as well, so maybe the matrices aren't supported. I'm sure the mavic will be supported soon though.

Great software, though becomes $80 per month to use view or inspection utilities. I now use the app to gather the images and then use other more affordable software to do the photogrammetry and inspection functions. Drone deploy really need a hobbyist edition, I wouldn't mind paying.

The user pays for the drone, takes care of it, operates it, takes all the risk and responsibility, gathers the data and does all the work to gather the data. He then uploads the data to a centralized server to "process" (store?) the data. So DJI now not only earns the money but also gets a free army of dronistas who map the world for them and even pay for the equipment to do it. I wonder if DJI would hire me to negotiate a deal with Google to take google earth to the next level with this kind high resolution data? Interesting business models are coming up... I worked for a company that did high-res 3D mapping for large commercial and DoD customers, using a manned plane, very expensive cameras, and a massive Linux cluster to crunch the pixels and geometry. My work concerned that last part. Fun stuff for math and imaging geeks! It's amazing how ordinary folk can get their hands on and use things that required security clearances several years ago. Of course, the big boys with big budgets have also moved ahead, and aren't going to say exactly what they're capable of.
