Thank you for this tutorial, I've managed to create a couch based on this tutorial. One minus detail is that you're talking about "backslash" while in fact you should say slash since that is what isolates the mesh. Backslash "\" doesn't do anything, Slash is this one "/".

How to change measurement

You mean measurement units? If so, you can click on the icon that has a cone and a cube to your right, then go to units and change the measurement system or the measurement unit, if you meant making a sofa with a different size, you can use any size you want, sorry if you meant something else, I hope this helps.

Wow! my 11th attempt! The cushion base, i've activated "active element" , selected all vertices, double clicked on the corner one as instructed, "S, Y, 0 and a triangle appears! Any suggestions?
