This is a nice tutorial which as a beginner I find to be a helpful exercise in fundamentals. However keep in mind it's not exactly beginner (nor does it claim to be). He moves kind of fast through a few places, and sometimes doesn't explain the tools as he uses them. In one example, he uses the align function several times with little explanation. Then towards the end at roughly 33:30, he finally explains align in more detail and how it works. Not complaining, just observing. Literally following his every move, this 37 min tutorial took me about four hours to complete. That's with stopping and starting the video every five seconds to execute a task or figure something out. Still, a necessary exercise for beginners. This is only the second tutorial I have done, patience required..

This tutorial helped me enormously as a starter with Shapr3D to understand and be able to apply some functions properly. Like for example applying Align and Translate. Claas Kuhnen explains this calmly and clearly. Perfect. Thank you very much Claas! I will start soon with part two 🙂

As I'm a complete newbie to shapr3D for me it's way to quick, it's hard to follow what he actually do or what tools he's using. Maybe I should start with other videos...

you could always pause and rewind the video. but you should try the firs one from shapr3d quickstart with the yello thingie and then the motor one

Hi I'm a beginner I was wondering does Shapr3D allow you to model movements (e.g. cabinet door opening and closing)?
@nickbutler39452 жыл бұрын
Hi, great video. Very clear instructions. Can I create constraints or relationships, so that I can state an overall width and height and have all the cabinet components adjust to fit? Also, can I create named parameters, such as carcass thickness or back thickness, so the changing this carcass thickness parameter adjusts the shelf, toe kick and stretcher widths so that that overall cabinet dimensions remain as set, or the groove adjusts to the back thickness?
@Shapr3d2 жыл бұрын
Hi :) Unfortunately, you can't reference dimensions together in Shapr3D, as it is a direct modeling tool. The same goes to defined parameter sets, or as you call 'named parameters', unfortunately, this is not yet available.

@@Shapr3d That’s a shame, as it would significantly increase the efficiency of using this software. Is there a plan to introduce this in the short-term?

Thank you for the great tutorial. I want to ask though why are drawer sliders not included or calculated for. Same for door hinges. They take some space and if not properly calculated for then the drawer for example would be too big or too small. Any solution to this?

hi, can someone help me? is there an automatic cut list or something like that? for example, when a large kitchen is drawn, it automatically throws out a cutting list like in solid works.
@MixingGBP Жыл бұрын
28:00. You can select all of the parts you want to cut by double selecting. Then you only have to use the cutter part one time to cut all 4 sides. Doing everything in one operation.

Is it easier to work with millimeters even if the lumber I’m working with is in inches? Or should I keep the Shapr3D units the same as the lumber (e.g. 3/4” and 1/2” plywood)?
@Shapr3d2 жыл бұрын
Please apply the units that you or the lumber prefers. In this case, we were focusing on the modeling flow, the units should be chosen by the user to meet the manufacturing details.

How do you add finger joints if you want the draws assembled with finger joint(similar to dovetailed) rather than simple butt joints please?
@Shapr3d2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, there is no option to add finger joints in the app. It has to be modeled. You can create a sketch that you can use to extrude out the finger joints.

I'm Japanese. I can't speak English, so I'm translating and commenting on my iPad. I'm sorry if the translation is wrong. You can understand the content by translating, but it's hard to understand if it's a screen capture. If you are working with pencil such as iPad, it will be helpful because it is easy to understand without looking at the subtitles if you show me the movement of pencil.
