Thank you for this. I've been struggling with coolOrange all week and getting less than desired results. This gives me clean threads and a sold print. You guys rock!

"threadModeler is discontinued on Autodesk's App Store and is not compatible with Inventor 2024. The last version of threadModeler is compatible with Inventor 2018, 2019 and 2020."

Any suggestions on 3D printing a female part with threads that will receive an actual real (non 3D printed) fastener?
@MrMrjacky76 жыл бұрын
Hi! Very nice video, I'm having some troubles with the part at min 17:31. If I reduce the size of a screw created with coolOrange, then there is that part touching the border. When I resize only that part I obtain an inner cylinder slightly detached from the outer thread parts. When I tried to do the opposite (resizing the hole), I obtained again a good result but with those touching parts. Trying to resize only those parts of the hole I obtain an error trying to enlarge it and it works only if the resize is closing the hole. I don't know if it is clear but the problems are all related to the inner parts in your video at min 17:31, both resizing the screw or the hole. I'm using coolOrange screw and hole threads I will try with the commercial model as you do in the video.

@@KETIVTechnologies Thank you very much for the attention, but in the meanwhile I solved the problem "combining" the two resultant solids coming from the CoolOrange tool, so before resizing a combination must be enforced.

Thanks for making the very helpful vid. The part now shows up in my slicer with threads however the printer is still printing it flat without threads. Do you have a suggestion?
@KETIVTechnologies5 жыл бұрын
Hi Johny, Not sure why the printer would print something other than that showed on the slicer. I would recommend adjusting overhang settings, adding support, or using another slicer; maybe the slicer is just incompatible with the printer. Thanks, Brian Mongkolpoonsuk

Direct Edit continues to spit out errors even when using real small changes in size. This is specially true when dealing with internal Threads. What does the "Pitch Offset" option in the thread modeler do, is it something that can achieve similar results?
@KETIVTechnologies2 жыл бұрын
Direct Edit can be tricky since there is such a small margin for editing. I would also try a sweep cut as another workaround. The "Pitch Offset" is the difference between the Major and Minor thread diameters, not 100% sure that would help this scenario, but definitely try it out and let us know! Thank you!

Hi I have Inventor 2021. I have downloaded the threadModeler. however, it is in my "Autodesk App Manager" and it just listed there and I can find it in my + Add-in. do you have any idea how I can activate it ?
@MI-gs1qo3 жыл бұрын
NVM just saw that 2021 versions are not supported
@KETIVTechnologies3 жыл бұрын
Typically you have to download apps from exchange site and install them, they don't usually show in the App Manager, but will show in Add-ins if it is installed properly. and you are correct it is not currently supported for 2021.

There is way to overcome this by going to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\coolOrange_threadModeler.bundle\Contents and editing the file (Notepad or similar) coolOrange.ThreadModeler.Inventor.addin and change the line FROM THIS : 20.. 25.. to this: 21.. 26.. Just change the 20 to 21 and the 25 to 26 and it worked for me in Inventor 2021. then start Inventor 2021 and it should display. Mostly u need also to unblock it and some multiple restarts of Inventor.

Inventor crashes on changing the size of the threads. any help?
@KETIVTechnologies5 жыл бұрын
Hi RisK, Does it crash when you manually adjust the thread size or when you change it in the thread tool? Sometimes when manually doing this, it may lag out since there is a lot occurring. If not, could you send me the error message you are receiving (if any) upon crash? Did you make any edits to your thread standards? In the meantime, I would check the general go-to's, like making sure you are on the latest version and try doing a repair of the tool. Thanks, Brian Mongkolpoonsuk

How to chamfer? I get errors every way I try.
@TheBenenene105 жыл бұрын
Your Champfer probably interferes with another. try reducing the champfer, at some point it should work
