This is sick man, I just bought the keys to do this! I have been playing with the idea of making a Clone Hero controller for a while, this is way better than the method I was planning on using. I made a prototype with some arcade buttons and an old keyboard controller, and definitely wanted mechanical keys in the new version. I'm very new to 3D modeling so I really appreciate the Thingiverse upload! Would you mind if I messaged you if I get hung up with the electronics portion?
@JoshDesigns3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely ask me questions if you have them. My first few guitars were horrible. I took apart computer keyboards and soldered clunky buttons directly to the contacts on the keyboards’ circuit board. I’ll be making a better tutorial soon where i will 3D model a new, guitar that will hopefully be easy to assemble.
@TheKodostaff3 жыл бұрын
@@JoshDesigns Funny you say that, it sounds like I used the same method when I made my first 'guitar' too! It was awful, I used a cardboard box for the enclosure and the solder points broke after a couple of uses. I'm printing parts of the shell now, I had to break it up a bit to fit on my Ender 3 Pro because the print bed is smaller. I'll try to upload it on Thingiverse as a remix of your project once I know everything fits properly! I do have a question before I buy the rest of the internals - what are you actually using the Arduino board for? From what I understand the USB encoder is the only component needed for linking the buttons and using it as a HID for PC. Its hard to tell from the video, but you mention that you're powering the Arduino with the 5v from the encoder, and then it looks like the Arduino is only controlling the LED strips based on the wiring. Is that correct? If so I might just get the encoder for now and try to do the Arduino and LEDs later on.
@JoshDesigns3 жыл бұрын
@@TheKodostaff Correct the Arduino is only controlling the LEDs so it’s completely optional
@TheKodostaff3 жыл бұрын
@@JoshDesigns Fantastic, thanks for the tips! One last question, is every screw point intended for the M3x20 screws that you mention in the video, or do the lengths needed vary for things like mounting the neck?
