A quick and cool customization for my car. This episode demonstrates a successful use of custom supports, and that sometimes simplicity is key.

Nice work! The contour gauge, something I'm going to have to add to my tool box. I recommend applying a UV protective clearcoat (you can pick it up at any automotive store in the paint section) to keep the emblem from getting messed up by the sun.

Floss cuts through most automotive adhesives fairly easilly without damaging the paint. I know this because I had to remove some broken plastic pieces from my dad's truck after a hailstorm.

You should try printing with ASA - it has a high temperature and UV resistance. If your printer can print ABS it should be able to handle ASA.

Fun fact, the blue and white on the emblem comes from when they were making plane stuff (I think for a war) so the blue and white are whirling propellers! :D

I was wondering how to measure a curved surface like that, nice tool tip. Keep us updated on how well that pla stands up to the elements. You might want to try spraying a uv protecting clear coat over it.

Angel Egan because you assume the 3d printer to be a lot bigger than it actually is, so it's your perception that plays a trick on you here :)

u know the emblem has 3 little pins one of them being the center gauge one, and u can 3d print them and just snap them in place in and out of ur hood? that way u don't have to "apoxy this" and that over the hood or other old plastics, you just swap it out with a new part basically.

Your emblem is really artistic but I would have went with the original and put a LED light under it (Blue or white) This way it just lights up around the edges. But I do really like your Videos and your creativeness!

If you keep getting your BMW emblems stolen, I suggest instead you work on a 3D printed gun. Problem solved.

nobody stole it. it came off the base and you lost it while driving. if somebody was going to steal they would take the base and leave you with a hood 2 holes and 2 rubber grommits. The cheapest cars on the market have better quality emblems than BMW because they understand pride in their brand.
