3D printed 'Epic' scale Napoleonics and 1/72nd injection moulded plastics.

Probably my first real look at quality 3D printed figures got me thinking about how much the hobby has changed since Airfix days and the days of traditional metal sculpts. 'Epic' compatible 13.5mm prints by Hoplite Miniatures (eBay stores) to be painted for customer Stephen.

Hi Lee, the ‘not Epic’ look superb. Does that material need priming? Re 1/72, I spoke to a well known producer of wargame figures and he said the collector part of his customer base was larger than the wargame customer base.

Hi Norm. I must look into preparation for the resin, I assume just a normal black primer, I hope so as I don't fancy having to wash them all :) Re 1/72nd collecting it's a big hobby I agree, I watch a lot of Airfix soldiers collector videos. It always brings a smile to my face watching the older guys assembling sets such as the Sahara Desert Fort and deriving so much nostalgic pleasure from it :) Cheers, Lee.

Nice prints but are they actually size compatible? I ask because Warlord use that funny scale of 13,5mm that places their figures between the more common 15mm and 12 mm figures (10mm are far too small) and even small this difference can be quite noticeable Difficult to make out but is the figure on the far left of the command strip the standard bearer, just going by the raised hand and suspecting you have to make your own flagstaff?

Yes, I would say that they scale perfectly to the 13.5mm Epics and they are sold as 'Epic scale' . In a side by side comparison they are an excellent match. I'll try to get a couple of photos. Cheers, Lee.

Are they made of brittle material. I bought some 3d printed figures and they were so delicate they just snapped.

I have looked through 8 bags of 80 figures per bag and not a single broken bayonet! I know what you mean re some 3D prints, I ordered some ACW Iron Brigade strips from a different from a different supplier a few months ago and they were so brittle they just went into the bin! When I paint them I'll do a more thorough review, this was very much first impressions. Cheers, Lee.
