Holy molly, dude!!! That's a hell of a print!!!! And its as glorious as we though it would be! First of all, muchas gracias for giving a go even to our most insane models. This has to be in the top three in Wicked history, and we could not ask for a better result, my dear amigo! Second, muchas gracias for the explanation. With your video, we can notice the parts where we need to improve, and that's invaluable for us! You deserve something very Wicked for your help and support to our work, and man, we're already working on it

This is awesome! When a creator can look at this video and say "hey, maybe we can make the next one better because of this", that tells me all I need to know about the quality and care that Wicked puts into these. Great video as well and you give me something to aspire to as i add a resin printer to my FDM one. Thanks!

I'm working on this one as well. I printed it at 50% which took just over 1,000 grams of resin (I didn't print the back or the nameplate). I made the mistake of fully assembling Carnage with all of his tendrils (except for the piece that wraps around the back of the church) before having the base printed. I ended up with a bunch of misaligned pieces. These were able to be repositioned by hitting it with a heat gun and bending them to where I wanted. This is the first time that I tried this fix with resin and was surprised to find that it worked very well (I use Elegoo ABS-Like resin). Perhaps you may want to try that in the future as it can really help close those gaps and require less filling. Having to paint these statues while fully assembled will be a pain as well, but I guess it's needed. I'm looking forward to your video of painting these statues for some inspiration.
@TheCreativeCollector2 жыл бұрын
Yes you are correct. I used the standard grey resin so there's not much flex like the ABS stuff. I tried a heat gun to budge some of it but It just wanted to crack it because of the heat, so I stopped that. It won't be too bad in the end. I actually have already managed to patch a lot of it up and you can't even notice...even with some of those larger gaps.

Two years late for this video but Wicked knocked the ball out of the park with this one, as did you in putting it together and highlighting the bits that don't quite fit as they should. I think the stain glass could be done with translucent resin. The webbing can easily be painted to mask the transparency. Then you could back light it for dramatic effect.

that is an insanely huge and detailed print! You did an amazing job of getting done and put together! But I have to say, 1000g = 1kg, coming from a country that uses the metric system , its extremely weird to refer to any weight over 999g in grams, always kilograms (kg) so 10kgs vs 10000g

As in glue? I use a 5 minute epoxy from BSI Industries. And it works for resin and FDM
@djannel5 ай бұрын
New to resin printing, just subscribed to Wicked, how do you scale the parts so that they actually fit with each other?
@TheCreativeCollector5 ай бұрын
They're already scaled to 1/6 scale. Depending on how big or small you want it, just decrease or increase the percentage of scale on your slicer.
@KurtisJoseph2 жыл бұрын
So can you do giant stuff on a smaller printer? Like quarter scale? 1/3rd? I have a pla printer for cosplay but some stuff you cant sand well. Like a detailed dragon.
@TheCreativeCollector2 жыл бұрын
You can print some large stuff, but you may have to slice it on something like Meshmixer. I print some of my 1/4 scale prints on smaller printers. It just depends on the piece itself.
@KurtisJoseph2 жыл бұрын
What mid range size printer would you recommend? I think monochrome is wise. I will drop a link to one stl I am looking to print. The FDM one's.... I know it can be done but man... finishing between some of these fine details will be a nightmare if PLA is used.
@KurtisJoseph2 жыл бұрын
That is about the size and detail I want to produce. I think resin is much easier to sand and finish than PLA. Thing is the base alone seems bigger than most build plates. A lot are only like two inches wide. Lol! It is already multiple pieces so they may fit. Just not sure. I have NO experience with resin YET. I want to do this kind of stuff though. Surround myself with nerd art. Start digging in to painting models. I love painting.

Try sanding around the pegs some. If you printed in resin, it tends to shrink a bit, so some sanding is needed.

How does that work I don’t want to print and waste all the resin without knowing how

Can you give a newbie with resin a guide on the appropriate wall thickness of statues and bases? I have heard that you shouldn't go below 2mm but you mentioned 1.2-1.5mm. Also, do you uv cure inside the models thru the drain holes with a small UV bulb?
@TheCreativeCollector2 жыл бұрын
I print all of my models at 1.2 -1.5mm with 5% grid infill and I've never had a problem cracking, splitting, or not being thick enough. I hear of people using small UV lights to cure the inside, but at the thickness I print them, you don't need it. It cures all the way through.
@joejvitale2 жыл бұрын
@@TheCreativeCollector See, that's interesting. I don't think I have ever heard someone say that it cures all the way through. Also, others have said never to priint with infill. I appreciate the info!
