Diverging nozzles only work for gasses. A single nozzle is more efficient than 4 smaller ones.

But why?? can you explain ??
@krain.82452 ай бұрын
@@fdfdfsdfful The diverging section of a supersonic nozzle accelerates a hot gas at sonic speed into supersonic speed. This only works if the speed of the gas is at the speed of sound at the throat, that is it's choked at throat.

@@fdfdfsdfful diverging nozzles require a gas to expand at supersonic speeds. water does not expand. a single nozzle has a higher internal area vs perimeter, vs 4 smaller nozzles. the perimeter adds drag to the flow. Not saying this to take anything away from the work, it's awesome when people make stuff. just hoping to spread knowledge
@Giuliana-w1f2 ай бұрын
@@fdfdfsdfful a diverging nozzle is used to recover extra power from exhaust gasses when the pressure from them is higher than the atmospheric pressure arround. Water cannot expand in the same way, so a straight nozzle of the correct diameter is the best nozzle.

Get a machined spring coupler and join your impeller shaft to a high power offroad skateboard motor you have mounted in your boat, because if you take off the skateboard wheel, you can use the threaded end of the shaft to connect to the impeller, all the gear reduction is already built in and it's built to carry riders down a mountain so pushing the water should be okay, reliability/durability-wise. Thanks for all the inspiration and taking time to produce this upload for us.

It is a nice project. Nozzle design is nice to look at, but not optimal: you are reducing the speed of water by letting it expand. Also, there is the possibility of cavitation in that recessed parts (less thrust and faster failure). Your design works well for gas, but water is a nearly incompressible fluid, so it's the wrong geometry.

Very cool. For making costume seals. Its easy with some fdm printed negative molds. Use 2 or 3 cask. But use 2 componet mould Silicone. I have made many costume seals. And can do very complex geometry. You should give af go. Tip...make sure to make small holes in the form for air to escape. Inject with a syringe. When silicone is coming out of the went holes. Close them up and continue to add some extra silone to fill out any cavatiees.

Not a fan of HeyGears, but I can't blame you for accepting their sponsorship and free toys! I just hope they also sent plenty of their DRM resin. You can't use their printers with your own resin. Their resin is chipped and printers won't work unless you keep buying their resin. 😐 if they go out of business, I guess you just have to throw those extremely expensive printers in the trash. I don't like that.

@BlackHeartScytherАй бұрын
Nice video idea! I have seen strength tests with FLG additive in resin, just a few % makes a massive difference in strength. Would need a motor strong enough to utilize the added strength and possibly compare a closed style impeller against the screw style (or maybe a closed screw?) to see if you get any more thrust that way.

The expanding portion of the nozzle isn't helping performance. Rocket engines do that only when the exhaust is underexpanded, but water is incompressible, so all you're doing is slowing down the water's exit velocity.
