Arduino 3D Printer | Homemade - Part 3
In the third part of Homemade 3D Printer, I completed connecting all 3D Printer electronics to the main RAMPS 1.4 Board and Upload the Marlin code the Arduino Mega.This video also shows how to generate G-Code and send it to your 3D Printer with Slic3r and Pronterface Softwares.I printed a 20mm Test cube, which came out to be a good print.I also modified some parts of the 3D Printer, like the x-carriage, z-axis and added a cooling fan.This was the last video for this project, I Hope you enjoyed the Video!

I thought about doing this, watched all the videos and confirmed that I could pull this off for a personal project by using this tutorial. But, after adding all the items to my cart the total cost came out to be more than the price of a Creality Ender 3, which I currently own. Creality is really changing the game for consumer 3D printers, excellent print quality and minimal hassle. It would be a great learning experience to build a printer by following this video but I got discouraged when I saw the end price. Great video though!

I am new to the whole microelectronics and Arduino/3D printer area. I am totally fascinated with your videos. I don't understand yet any of the stuff beyond the construction of the chassis but I will be learning more as I go along and I'll re-watch your videos again and again. Thanks for your efforts and for 3 great videos. Keep them coming.

Followed your videos from beginning to end, and now I have a 3D printer too. I opted to use cheap wood instead of aluminum, and so far with two largish L-brackets I'm doing good with no signs wobbles or resonance buildup. Thank you!
@AutomateX
@AutomateX 6 жыл бұрын
Devin Olsen actually using wood is not that good in case of fire wood will burn all the components even a spark occurs or any electrical failure... aluminium is a wiser choice

Yogesh thakare possibly.. but I’ve already updated the ramps board to high voltage MOSFETs with sinks and overkilled it active cooling. Even after a 16hour print I can confirm the MOSFETs and even PSU are cooler than ambient room temp. No motors get even warm.. I should mention only my frame and control box are wood, rest is aluminum bed frame and couplers etc.

Ok so I'm really considering making this, and I REALLY don't want it to catch on fire. I've been doing some research on a Raspberry Pi "security camera" that I could make and use over long distances using DNS. I could be eating lunch at school while making sure that it doesn't catch on fire. I could probably build a small trigger that uses the same technique to activate a fire extinguisher.

Great work! And you can't imagine the satisfaction I got when seeing the upgrade to the rod holders, my inner mechanical engineer was moaning in agony when I saw the zip-ties introduced to the x-axis ;) I guess with re-calibration of the printer before every use, repeatability and accuracy are not a big issue?

For all those who were search ing dimensions you can take any but bigger than 20inch. Steps uploaded to Arduino are same and take care heat bed placement settings. The base should be minimum 20×20inch (From base I meant to say the area where heat bed is fixed.) And height should be roughly 25inch(min) . Acrylic sheet mount should be taken in respect of stepper motors. That's all rest you can check. In video. He night not wanted to reveal the lengths or he knew we can take any.
