Thank you, this was a great example of what to do for someone facing having to replace the heat cartridge/thermistor. IT was greatly needed.

Does it matter which red wire goes into which hole? Don't feel up for making my printer explode if I put them in the wrong slots.
@SnareX
@SnareX Жыл бұрын
The hot end polarity doesn't matter because it just powers a heating coil and it doesn't care which way the electricity come in. I just did this swap

Amazing, just one quick question dose the red wiers that go into the board, dose it matter what order they go in?
@johnson6048
@johnson6048 Жыл бұрын
I've yet to watch a video where this key point is made. Primary need for a video like this is to see where the relevant connections are on the board and whether polarity (positive/negative) matter. The rest is basically screws and zip ties. Most can figure that part out. Fortunately someone else answered this further in the comments. They say it doesn't matter for the two red wires on the heating element. Edit- I have in fact confirmed that the two red heater element wires don't need to be inserted in any specific order. Just insert and tighten set screws.

Does the heating cartridge have positive and negative wires or could I clamp them down in either terminal on the motherboard?

Both the heating cartridge and thermistor are just types of resistor, which means they work both ways. You can put them on either way.

@@excrubulent so cant you just cut the original wires a small ways in and splice the new ones on?
@excrubulent
@excrubulent 2 жыл бұрын
@@1manteam700 You can, but you do need to be careful doing that if you're soldering. If you don't connect some sort of heatsink then you can easily destroy the thermistor by overheating it. Also hobbyist solder melts at around 190C, well within the temperatures reached by hotends. So for the heating cartridge I use crimp connectors, and for the thermistor I solder about 10cm back along the wire and use a metal heat sink clamp to stop the heat travelling down the wire too much.

The ports are color coded and keyed, you idiot. You literally couldn’t plug something into the wrong port unless you tried to manhandle it.
