Damit presst du Fett in jede Ritze.

English Version - no support for correct translation xD First of all - you have researched really well! Here are a few additional points that may help someone: - I would not use the plain bearings you ordered in this form, because the linear guides are rigid. These bearings absolutely do not like angular misalignment or unequal spacing of the guides. They could jam because the tolerances of the bearings are too tight compared to the surrounding construction. The guide axes are only roughly aligned based on the bearings and then bolted in place. The design simply lacks a precisely defined position for the axes. (If you had all the freedom in the design of the printer, I would create a joint on the carriage between the bearing side with the two bearings and the bearing side with the one bearing. That way you open up a degree of freedom to compensate for the misalignment of the axles). - I recently built a Prusa myself. The LM8UU bearings come with an unknown lubrication. So I would recommend flushing the bearings completely with brake cleaner and then lubricating with a good grease for guides. There are extra (printed) grease nipples to add grease to the balls. But it also works if you fill the bore of the bearing well with grease, close one side with your thumb and push in the guide shaft from the other side. This way you press grease into every crack. Then move the bearings on the shaft for a while so that the grease can spread. You will notice a significant noise reduction - but they will never be completely quiet. The advantage of this recirculating ball bearing is that you hardly have to worry about the exact alignment of the guide axes. The bearings can compensate for minor deviations. Additionally, of course, it helps to replace the cheap China bearings with high quality ones. So in summary: Very good research on IGUS bearings, but not really suitable for use in this design (Prusa). The tolerances are too tight to compensate for the inaccurate tolerances of the design. Take good LM8UU and lubricate decently.

I was JUST researching the exact same thing for hours before I found this Video. Even saw the Reddit post and Prusa Threads about it. I was hoping to find an up to date video about the bearings, not 4-5 year old videos with the cheaper pressfit bearings. So.. either I wait for your video or just buy the full set with rods and test it out myself!

For anyone who's interested, I've uploaded a video about my experience of swapping to IGUS RJZM bearings and rods: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHy8hKyOq5hjoM0 Not the best quality video but I hope it helps with people who's struggling to make a decision.
This printer is OLD. Why is it still my favorite?
