Hey! I'm a FIRST Alumn. So happy to see creators like you bring awareness to the program that drove my passion for engineering. Without FIRST I don't know where I'd be today. I hope more kids can find a something their passionate about and get their start with FIRST. :)

As an FRC alum I’m so glad this is being reached out to non FRC/FIRST people. It’s awesome to spread awareness for the program. FRC was the reason why I’m studying mechanical engineering in college today!

The design is so clever. I love the way it all just snaps together. I can see a new RRF competition for kids in this, something similar to the Death Racers, but instead of last-robot-standing, how about the robot that can complete a race course and complex task using the srevo arm the fastest? You could call it "Task Racer!" It would encourage kids to learn logic and problem solving coding for an unknown situation.

Some years back robotic experimenters were hacking iRobot vacuum cleaners for their experiments, and there was a bare bones unit (robot but no vacuum) that you could buy from the factory, already partially hacked.

I (mentor for my former frc team) got a P1S for christmas and my brother (currently on my former robotics team) got an xrp kit sans 3d printed parts. Match made in heaven because I was able to print out the pieces he needed to make his xrp and he has had a lot of fun playing with it. The xrp is a great little robot and has helped him learn more about robotics.

Tried this the hard way a few years ago after getting in to klipper. Got hats for raspberry pi for servos and motors and got a small metal chassis and motors and just started 3d printing and playing. The python killed me. I've still not been able to put the time and effort in to make a usable robot, just managed to FPV drive a little car around my floor from my PC over WiFi. I want a working droid!

I was avoiding even watching this video. This tech is quite old. Basically everywhere i go the kit is no longer being sold and in the few places it is... Its over 150$. Im sorry but the amount of electronics you get out of it is not worth the money. I could buy a rasp pi 5, have 4 escs, 4 brushless motors, and all of the sensors for 150$. It makes 0 sense to purchase. Now it appears you posted links to them instock now. Im guessing over 3-4 years they decided to stock again. There are 0 chances i am going to give effort to a platform with that bad of a track record of support. Its simply not worth it. Also, the kit gives you like 25$ worth of materials but is still charging 120$ before tax. Personally, id much rather just buy their pico board for like 20$. It doesnt even need the pico, just the solderable female headers for it.
