For anyone not seeing the 3D Print tab in their right sidebar, you have to select an Object first. (Your program isn't broken. :) Thanks, Print That Thing, for this video!

I had the same problem and found what happens: it will appear once you have any object in the screen. No object no 3D printing add on showing.

Great video, really useful information. The add on is still not showing in the side view even with it ticked in the preferences. Do you have any ideas why? I just installed the latest version of Blender.

Strange. Try to press "n" on the keyboard, while the mouse is floating over the 3D viewport
@PrintThatThing3 жыл бұрын
Try searching for "toolbox" instead, you should see its called, "Mesh: 3D-Print Toolbox"

I'm not into 3D printing but I find this tool highly useful just for general modelling. However, I would far prefer to have the volume calculation come out in m^3, and to a limited number of decimal places (pref 2 or 3). Is there a way to do that?
@PrintThatThing5 жыл бұрын
Me too. Totally feel ya on that m^3 but i havent found a way to reset it. Maybe in the "units" tab. Maybe changing those may change the output of the volume. Ill look into it this September.

I am attempting to repair a model I created in Daz for 3d printing. I attempted a test print and my 2 main issues are the hair and the clothing. The hair came out like a rats nest because it isn't manifold. The clothes resembled a leaf with sharp points but oddly enough they printed out boxy with no resemblance to the item with many parts completely missing. I was wondering if I could use the methods in this video and the repair video to close up gaps in the hair, or if I should be using an entirely different method. Don't even know how to begin fixing the clothing issue, but am trying to concentrate on the hair first. Update: Just tried to manifold the hair which is separated into three pieces (Main Hair, Bun and Bangs). I used the make manifold button, but now it erased all the hair except for the main hair, so now the bangs and bun are gone with just a few floaty dots around them. Oddly enough, after running the make manifold and then re-analyzing the hair using the check all button it is still reporting a few issues. It is reporting vastly fewer issues as it originally reported about 300,000 issues originally, but I assumed it would repair them all. Also tried using the Make Manifold button while the model and clothing was selected and with just the clothes selected and it looks like it is either deleting all the clothes that cling to the body only leaving the parts that protrude a lot.

Thanks for this. I was wondering what the value next to Degenerate represents. Is it a value that depends on the 3D printer that is going to be used? Something to do with resolution, for instance.

Is there a way to hollow out inner mesh that have been combined with multiple objects?

click "n" on your keyboard. That should bring up the information panel on the right side of your 3D viewport. You should see a tab called the 3D Print (toollbox)
@goku4452 жыл бұрын
@@PrintThatThing Yep, same problem here, maybe it depends on the object? Incompatible?
@PrintThatThing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Make sure you click on a 3D object first. Once you click on an object the 3D print toolbox tab should appear on the information panel(n) to the right of the 3D viewport.
@goku4452 жыл бұрын
@@PrintThatThing Thanks for answering. I had the object selected, but it's an import from a "dirty" SVG with no define contour. I have no issue with the default cube or basic ojects tho, the menu is showing. So maybe there are rules to follow.
@PrintThatThing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that makes sense. Seems it only works for mesh data/objects?
