3D Printing vs Crafting - Which is better?

Just subbed. And you're right... the answer to "which is better?" is 3D printing... when it is. Otherwise, crafted is better, and can be more fun. But 3D printed is also better. As is crafted. Let's face it. If I need 20 or 50 or 200 "somethings", 3D printing will always reign supreme. It's much better for reproducibility, up-and-down scaling, and it's much easier generally to be very precise. And is generally much faster (from the perspective of actual effort you need to put in unless you're designing the models yourself -- but once those are designed, you can do whatever you want with them to your heart's content) But if I want something "rustic" or something exactly the way I want to that can be created "by feel", then I like to craft. Or, more often than not, the answer is "both". Maybe I want to craft the walls to that building out of styrofoam... but doing that doesn't mean I want to craft the 20 barred windows surrounding it when I can just print them off in much better quality with a 10th of the effort. And maybe I want to print that witch's hut, but feel it can use some vines that would be much easier and better to craft out of foam clay.

Have you guys ever looked into Hirst Arts molds? Been using those to build terrain in hydrocal for something like 20 years now (eep) and love the results, though it's admittedly a slow process
