@@DigitallyFearless i’m applying this with another technique to hopefully solve a long standing issue with generating watercolor wash creation. essentially creating a fake watercolor. what’s needed is this technique to map the fake paper to the image.

Thank you, one of the best of tut you published. Very interesting. I would love you explain better what bump map does exactly, I miss this bit in your tut

Basically it takes darker and lighter shades and uses them to make a 3d by making darker and lighter shades look higher and lower.

Great Tutorial and easy to understand how to achieve the effect! I watched another tutorial for displacement maps and that creator converted the original image to 16bit for better / smoother effect. I wonder if this lighting effect would benefit? I will try it later!

Great idea. I bet it would especially when doing it with lighting.

I think it could be further enhanced by doing a bit more treatment on the bump map. Something like Unsharp masks to be able to blur out the noisier details but still keep the the well defined edges. Wish note: would be great if it allowed the use of any other layer or group as the bump texture source instead of having to resave and load all the time a separate png

I try to keep the tutorials short but I think this is a good idea to try.
