BIG NOTE!!! Interface Updates for 5.1/5.2+ 1) 1:25 - To load same level with the chairs, go to File-Open Level, and choose All/Content/StarterContent/Maps/Minimal_Default. 2) 28:28 - You'll "rt-click, CINEMATICS, level sequence" instead of "animation, level sequence"

@@3dJC I've been using Blender a long time, and teaching it, a bit.. I'm having my first real look at UE, which is, of course, overwhelming. I'd hate to make you self conscious. But you focus really well, filter out the salient features really well. You seem to have planned really well. While you acknowledge that you're skipping detail, (you have to,) you lighten the subject, and reassure really well. I've no hesitation in subscribing, and I hope your teaching skill rewards you really well, one day, if not already.

Edit: Day 2 I Learned +Everything else Honestly I can't recommend this enough I had fun working on this for 2 days it was pretty daunting at first I usually don't follow along well with 1hr long tutorials for fear of my time being wasted or something else. But Mr.JC explains very well and I can see a future now with what I learned here for my personal work. Thanks man, goated tutorial.

I will add to what others have said and noticed. You teach in a way I like to learn this. I am not brand new to Unreal, but there are still things that eludes me, and some of that was covered in your video, simply because you take it step by step and treat the viewer as new to this. Too many tutorials skip along quick because they think it is some kind of tiktok video, or they muddle the teaching by not having it clear in their mind before they record. This was just spot on. Subscribed.

FYI: idk if there's already a comment, but here's this: This is my first time, and it took me half a minute to realize that at 56:20, you need a Post Process Volume in order to do the Exposure settings. Volumes are in the Place Actors window on the right side of the tabs. Then you can start messing with the Post Process stuff. I say this because when he said to search for post process, it didn't pop up, so I dug around a little bit.
@3dJC
@3dJC 6 ай бұрын
There is a postprocess volume in the assetsville town demonstration already, but you bring up a good point - for building a level from scratch, or other random projects you may find, they may not have one in there by default, it needs to be added.

Great introduction to UE. I agree with the comments regarding your excellent teaching skills. In addition to delivering a ton of information in a clear, concise and easy to understand format, you designed the tutorial so anyone new to UE can have immediate success. This approach inspires confidence and the desire to learn more. So many well-intended "beginner" tutorials spend needless time exploring the intricacies of the user interface, lighting and material creation. By the time I finish one of those tutorials, I've lost my enthusiasm and have nothing to show for it. Thank you, JC.

this is so good, especially for a maya user. UE5 is very friendly to maya users but it also has quirks like alt duplicate.

Very helpful tutorial! Learned a lot in an hour (well, 2 with pausing and trying). One question: is it possible to play the character and record all that as keyframes?

I had known the basics but learned a lot of nice tips from this video. Great work, it was easy to follow. I posted my first successful filming of an animated character thanks to you @3D Education with JC. Always been involved making and fixing worlds, this will be my first experience filming a lot of it and you got me on the right track ...... I think ....
