It’s a cool tent. Copied from the Hilleberg Rogen. My friend has the Taiji and I have the Rogen. Pretty good for the enormous price difference. In wind we found Taiji bent a lot more, but other than that extremely good value. Rogen used poles sleeves including for short cross pole vs Taiji external clips. Both fun tents and great for the weight.

A very similar tent to the Sierra Designs Meteor 2 & the Naturehike Nebula 2, & probably many others. The short cross pole at the top makes all the difference to the height & stability, & the two openings are a campers dream. We could finally be getting very close to the perfect 3 season tent here.

A silly small thing, but one that I really like, is the bag. You don't need to have an industrial press to get it small enough to go back into the factory bag. Very nice feature that makes using it easier. Esp if you are packing up in the rain and you are trying to get it packed in a hurry.

so far this tent ticks ALL my boxes. I'm so tempted to buy one. The only thing stopping me is my need to see how it copes in heavy wind and rain. I'm used to a low profile tunnel tent with lots of guy lines, but I crave the extra headroom and this tent is 500g lighter than my current one
@NessNayii2 ай бұрын
Did you end up getting one? If so how did it deal with heavy wind and rain? I'm having exactly the same dilemma!
@TimelordUK2 ай бұрын
@@NessNayii the timing of your post is unbelievable. I'm actually in this very tent right now, and it's raining!!! I bought the tent shortly after my last post so I've had it almost 2 years now. Camped on new year's eve in it in heavy rain and quite strong wind and it was fine. My tent was up in the rain for 3 nights and it was fine. I adore this tent
@TimelordUK2 ай бұрын
@@NessNayii Grizzly Gaz posted a review of this tent, where it collapsed in strong wind, but he did say he hadn't guyed it out properly. I've just endured a very windy night and it's still windy and blowing in the sides now, but still standing and never had any leaks. There is a weak point on this tent, and that's the door panels. They are very wide and could really do with a tab in the middle at the base to hook onto a peg for support. I wouldn't know how to do this, but those door panels really catch the wind. I saw this happening on the Grizzly Gaz video. To help, I've attached a guy line on each end of the smaller cross support bar, anchoring it down. This way the strong winds can't completely push the tent in on itself. The interior pocket is almost useless because it's so small, and only one of them, but this is such a minor niggle. For me after using this tent many times in 2 years, in all weathers, I would rate it 8.5/10

@@TimelordUK wow, what a coincidence regards you actually being out in it when you got the notification, haha! Thanks so much for the responses, and for going into detail - I really appreciate it! It does seem to be a great tent, and ticks all the boxes, except for the high wind vulnerability, which does concern me. It's a toss up between this and the xmid solid two person (I watched Wild Beare subject her xmid solid to some pretty extreme wind, and it coped unbelievably well). If the Taiji 2 can be modded though, it might be the way to go...lots to think about! Thank you again!

@@NessNayii ❤️ I'll have a look at that tent you mentioned. Another consideration of mine has to be weight. I don't drive so I need to carry everything in my rucksack. The Taiji 2 is less than 2kg and I can fully sit up, get changed etc inside it. I don't feel cramped at all. These are only my opinions of course with not much else to compare this tent to. I am very happy with it, but yes, not so sure about very strong winds. Watch the grizzly Gaz video x

Hi Paul…great review but I think you have the top connecting piece wrong, according to the 3ful website and other reviewers. Just an observation that may not even matter in the end. Keep up the top videos Paul.

Hi Paul, I have pretty much zero experience in camping but was wondering if you have ever used or considered using plastic cable ties for emergency repairs connecting the outer to the poles. Where the three poles cross looks like a stress point and do you think adding the ties would give extra support and strength in strong winds or maybe even secure them with a carabiner. I do enjoy watching your channel and I am pleased that you seem to have regained your passion for camping. Take care.

The sequencing/method you used to clip the top, short 'spreader pole' in place appears odd. A better devise (or at least thought out) would be to clip by using the under-hook part inline with the long pole atop highest crossover/intersection...same as inline with the rest of the fly clips... then flex the small pole over top the U-shape feature (like an oar in its lock). Any thoughts? I think what the manufacturer has in mind is both long poles are using the fitting to create the intersection...then the short pole gets bowed over the top without anything.
