It's a future generation thing, especially since before it was unlikely that grandpa and grandma would make it to meet their grand children personally; now it's more common. Add on to that the fear of death and wanting to leave behind a legacy/to be remembered (which is already inbuilt into a lot of superstitions and religions about the after life), and it's not that hard to see why a lot of people found it appealing.

The animation for Season 2 looked a lot different from Season 1. Like, you can tell a lot has changed, from the color and the background and the style. It’s actually more advanced from the first season.

Eh, couples are allowed to have arguments, the photo situation is probably the only time Lola was actually annoyed by Bugs in the series. We definitely see her care for him in her own quirky way throughout the show. And yes, she is the best character in the show, she may be a wreck who can't maintain a coherent thought, but she's a loveable one.
