I simply was mesmerized!... by the images, by the music, by the synchronization of both, by the stability of the plane. damn.. I'm watching it again.

I only recently saw this SkyHunter model on the HK website and have been drawn by the unique fuselage design for a long time (back when the fpv community were looking for such a craft, a few years ago). Have to say, what you've achieved here is brilliant and very well executed. This has to be one of the best "FPV" videos/footage, that I've seen for a long time! Great work. Subscribed. :-)

What an incredible idea! I can't imagine why nobody thought about it before... Some things are just sitting there for some visionary to come and invent them. Congratulations!

That is such a cool perspective. One of the best FPV videos I've watched. I'd love to do that to my Penguin.

CG for a staight-wing airplane is always very near the "quarter chord" (measure the chord length of the wing and divide by 4, then measure back that distance from the leading edge). I mounted the center of the camera rig at this location, and since there are 2 arms, it's always balanced front-to-back and side-to-side. There is only a change in CG in the Z-direction which is not nearly as important.

The blue mounts were made on a Makerbot Replicator 2. The black center hub I think was on a Trinity Labs Alumatus by Taylor Stull on MakeXYZ.com

The black center hub was made by Taylor Stull on MakeXYZ.com from ABS, not sure what kind of printer he used because he has several... might've been the Lulzbot Taz. The blue camera mounts at the ends were made on a Makerbot Replicator 2 out of PLA.

Cool idea. I always like to see new perspectives. Once i had the idea to tow a small, flying cam to film my plane from behind, but it didnt work so well.

thats impressive. love it. Might try something like that on a tricopter. maby something where you mount a rail system around it so you can make the cam go all around the copter like a big "O" wth a tricopter inside and a cam outside if you understand ?

I like this concept, we are about to start experimenting with a much larger version of this that uses gimbals facing outwards on a rotating assembly outside the rotor perimeter. 2 go-pros facing out on gimbals away from the props of our hex copter.

Another question, do you use wide open throttle when you launch yourself?
@secretspy7118 жыл бұрын
+Denny Laman Yes, usually. This is how you can sometimes get away with a prop combo that produces more power than the motor is rated for, because launch only lasts a short amount of time. If you have a setup like this, don't fly at full throttle for sustained periods of time.
i'm waiting for someone to do a split screen front/rear signal transmit to FPV station.Or even crazier, 4 way split sceen with n,s,e,w facing cameras. Use 120+ degree lenses and you will be able to see everything. How about somehow piping that into the oculus rift post-receiver? I have a feeling FPV has an exciting future.

What video radio link gear and antennas are you using, didn't seem to be many drop-outs with it ?
@secretspy71111 жыл бұрын
All the clips in this video are onboard recordings, not the "link footage." But to answer your question, onboard was a 400mW 1.3GHz vtx with an inverted vee. On the ground I had a racewood receiver and a linear groundplane omni.

Thanks! That whole flight was actually pretty boring believe it or not. You can do a lot of things with editing. I need to do another flight and throw in some loops, rolls, and stalls!
@mauritsengelsman11 жыл бұрын
secretspy711 Yeah i can imagine that but I don't know if that sticks holds up in loops etc.. maybe it pulls to much g and breaks the stick of from you servo, but the angle you get is amazing:) I like the speedup at 1.48, like a 3 double moving time-lapse if you do it a bit longer:)

Awesome concept!! I love it!! Since not all of us have access to 3D printers, would you consider selling kits, particularly the plastic parts?
@secretspy7117 жыл бұрын
+Stan 808 Kits probably wouldn't sell very well, honestly. I really wouldn't want to fly with this rig mounted all the time since it significantly affects the flight characteristics. I don't have a printer either...I had the hub part printed for me at makexyz.com and the camera mounts printed by a friend. The STL files are on my thingiverse page.
