i finally ended up installing a SPOD unit. I installed all of my roof rack accessories like 42 inch lightbar and pod lights with all of the wiring going into the truck through a low profile thinfin and under the headliner. All of my wires are terminated under the hood into the SPOD Batam unit. Very very clean install.

Going to be getting this for lights, CB/Ham radio, etc. Keep it all separate so that way there’s no way it’s impacting the main electrical system for warranty purposes. Super clean, super functional, probably the best Tacoma mod you can do by my estimation!

Yes it has been a great addition 👍🏻🇺🇸

100a calls for a 4awg wire though 😬 6awg is only rated for 70-80a tops so that extra 20a will get that wire hot enough to burn it until that breaker senses 100a and opens circuit

I got mine and installed it, only thing I don’t like is how sharp all the edges are, make sure to protect the wires!
@ManCaveMayhem Жыл бұрын
Always you have to do that for sure👍🏻

I thought the same thing, I would buy some rubber tubing (like 3/8" maybe) and then slice it down one side, so it slips onto the edges like water pipe insulation works. Nice soft edges pretty cheap.

I just recieved the same set up from Amazon, all thanks to your video.

Im doing a similar project myself !!! I got a blank tray from Power Trays because I am using relays and my layout is different. Its an awesome project and all Tacoma trucks need this one

why such a small gage ground wire when you used a 6 gage positive? Shouldn't they be the same gage? Otherwise, great video!
@229Reaper4 жыл бұрын
really dangerous install,your ground(black wire)need to be the same gauge as the positive wire(red)

Thanks for this, I tried figuring out OB set up with the relays but I'm horrible at wiring. This was clean but I'm still gonna try to figure out how to run them but this video is a good start

just wondering why you didnt put a bigger ground wire off the fuse block? thanks for a very informative video.
@ManCaveMayhem2 жыл бұрын
I probably should have But wasn’t too worried about it as I was just using it for L E D stuff. Which is pretty low amp. Stuff. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching 👍🏻

Breaker or fuse needs to be equal to the smallest amperage rating of all installed components.

Great video. I am green to the game and was wondering if you used any relays in the setup? If so, how about a video if you don't already have one. Thanks

thanks for the video! liked and subscribed! question, can you list the size of the hardware needed to mount the fuse block to the bracket, also the length of the 6gauge wire for the breaker to the battery, and the breaker to the fuse block? Also your ground wire length? Your setup looked super clean and just what I'm looking to do.

Great video, super thorough! What power cables did you get, size and where?
@ManCaveMayhem4 жыл бұрын
Tim Fahy The wires are six gauge and I purchased them at a place called Battery Mart that is a local battery supplier in my area. But you can usually have them made or buy them at a local automotive store. I hope this helps thanks for watching👍🏻

Nice video! Hey, I'm new to this and plan to purchase this for my 4th gen T4R. I've seen other videos that incorporate relays as well. Are relays not needed for this kit? (I guess I'm a noob and a little confused.) Thanks!
@ManCaveMayhem3 жыл бұрын
A relay is used when you’re trying to reduce the current going to the primary control switch. For many of the LED lights they’re not drawing much current so a relay may not be necessary. But I’m not an expert electrician by any means so you may want to research this a little further. Thanks for watching hopefully I helped.

Could you list the hardware you bought for mounting? Such as the screw sizes
@ManCaveMayhem4 жыл бұрын
I think it comes with the screws and or you use the existing ones for the bracket mounting. I just went to the local Home Depot and test fitted the screws I used to mount the switch and fuse block. I’m not sure now what the sizes were.

i am currently building out my 2016 Tacoma and i am at the point of adding a roof rack light bar and side pod lights. i have ordered all the parts that you had on your video but i wanna know how do you handle any relays. is there a clean way to mount relays
@Stealth55555 Жыл бұрын
I'm here for the exact same, trying to find a fuse/relay setup, and it seems difficult to find any really good solutions. I want a box that holds the fuses, relays, and has room for other pass-throughs/connections inside, but haven't found anything like this, what did you end up doing?
