Thank you, Ben, for the virtual commiseration, the great cycling content, the bike porn, and the perspective. I'll probably never buy this bike, but just happy for the content and hope that you are recovering well.

Great review, Ben. 3T makes great bikes but a little out of my budget. I appreciate the trickle-down of the technology or adoption by other manufacturers of aero on gravel bikes, especially when lots of the riding is sola or on faster pavement to reach gravel.

Really nice review. I borrowed a 3T 1 x 12 last year and was very impressed with the bike. Yes, the 1 x 12 is a bit limiting so the Duo is going to be better for sure. Next to my Cannondale Supersix Evo Team, the 3T is nearly as fast over my 30-mile road course which includes about 1200 feet of climbing.
@brody52114 жыл бұрын
So good the aero bike is slower than your supersix ? New supersix or old?
@grahamtricker41034 жыл бұрын
@@brody5211 Previous model. It's about 3 years old. I've not owned or ridden a bike as good and I have owned and ridden a lot of bikes including some custom frame hand build made to measure bikes. Almost as comfortable to ride as the Synapse, but significantly better in every other area of performance.

one word of warning about the batteries. I had some health issues and then only rode my gravel bike for a couple of months. So, my road bike sat for about three months. I fully charged the batteries after I rode it last but when I rode my road bike for the first time in a while, the rear battery went dead very shortly into my ride. I did move the front battery to the rear and left it in the small ring. So, the battery can die just sitting on the bike. After that, I do make a point to check the battery level before rides.

So with the coin cell batteries in the shifters - how do you know when it's time to change them? Certainly not when they run out I hope!

Great review Ben, I like the idea of an aero frame with road focus but with off tarmac ability. What tyres would you recommend for dust gravel on the Strada?
@Automobiliana4 жыл бұрын
Nice review Ben. Actually am considering a Strada at the moment. It would´ve been interesting to have seen a close-up of the tyre clearance when you had it fitted with those 28mm Schwalbes which plumped up to 33mm. If anything I feel like the roadbike sector is turning towards even wider tyres, the Strada might not have enough tyre clearance for, say, nominally 30 or 32 mm rubber. That was a large size Strada, how high was the saddle set at if you don´t mind me asking? Trying to gauge if a M or L would fit me better.

Nice review, but you should have mentioned that on the red axs powermeter crankset that the chainrings are not replaceable once they're worn down. You literally have to throw away a perfectly good crankset and buy a new one. Blows my mind that they went this route...
@Alex-eu7ls4 жыл бұрын
You can reuse the crankarms, but the powermeter/spider does have to be replaced which I agree is quite dumb. Sram offers a 50% off trade-in for owners, but at $400 is still pretty steep for a set of chainrings.

Thanks for the review. Any practical use for the cage mount on the seat post? Can a bottle fit there for adventure days without rubbing legs?
@VeloNewsMagazine4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching it. You know, I never tried putting a bottle cage on the post, but in recent weeks I have used rear-mounted cages for long days without stopping. It can't hurt!

Watch your tongue. Colorado dirt is amazing, and there's a reason why so many WorldTour cyclists have made Boulder, CO their homes. You can't ride up to 14000ft elevation on pavement anywhere in Europe. Euro-snobbery like yours is one of the reasons I quit road riding/racing.
