This was the first Rammstein song I ever heard. My parents separated in 2006, and Mum was in a relationship with someone from 2007 until 2010. He was a huge Rammstein fan, and he introduced us to them. My sister and I didn't understand the words at first, but I later looked up the English translations to their lyrics, and that's how I learned most of the German I know. Rammstein are also the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Germany. There are only two categories of German people I know - those to whom I have mentioned Rammstein at least once, and those to whom I will.

This song has so much rage and resignation in it. Like you've been fighting all your life to figure out why you are the way you are, only to realize that someone turned you into this monster a long time ago. So now there you are, unable to change because you know nothing else, forced into acceptance and hating yourself, everyone, and everything around you for the injustice of it. I know your comment is quite old, but as a German native and author myself, I think this song is about children who cope with trauma in their dreams, most likely because they got raped by the lytical subject who itself has lived through quite some trauma and it may be the reason why it ended up becoming such a "monster". People who have lived through traumatic events often will have nightmares and the "Mein Herz brennt" can mean not just pain but also sexual arousal. Paired with the "Ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht" line, the song sounds more like a pedophile who want's to lure in children, especially as the thing which is brought is a heart. (so the lyrical subject gave them its "love") As the lyrical subject somehow embodies both, child and pedophile, it could be that it thinks that the reason for it to have become a pedophile in the first place was that it itself got abused in its past. Mein Herz brennt could also implicate that he feels pain after/when abusing children. It could be that the lyrical subject knows that it's not right to rape children, but he can't help it. Now, the thing with pedophilia might be a little bit far fetched but this song definetely is on dealing with trauma in your dreams. It's not on ordinary nightmares.

For my job, I often get sent into the rocky mountains. I wind up renting cars a lot rather than try to depend on local transit or taxis. Unfortunately due to a lung injury (I work in mineral extraction), I need certain filters in the air circulation. Luckily my company covers the cost, but they have a limited number of places they can get a corporate discount at. It’s ocassionally difficult to get the type to get my needs met from the rando at the desk, so I typically just go to one franchise where I can get the discount AND this one dude named Brenton to help me out. He’s young but he wants to be a mechanic after he finishes school, so he always knows what filter I’m talking about and installs it for me in the rental. Anyway, due to the economic downturn, he asked me if my company was hiring at all. So I said, if he didn’t mind working with his hands, we could use him down in a potash extraction site. He was really happy and asked if he would be working a desk or working within the site itself. I said, the mine, Hertz Brent.

Am I the only one here from that video of that naked girls smashed in face ? Some horrible video I saw where it was presumably the murderer filming showin the girl in the bed. Naked. Legs apart with this song blasting on repeat in the background. Unnerving. Won't hear the song the same

Now, dear children, pay attention I am the voice from the pillow I brought something to you Have cut it from my breast With this heart i have the power To blame youre eyes I sing till the day wakes up A bright shine at the heavens sky My heart burns They come to you at night Deamons, ghosts and black elves They crawl up from the cellar rows and will take a lok under your bed Little children listen on I am the voice from the pillow I braught something to you A bright shine at the heavens sky My heart burns They come to you at night And steal your little hot tears They wait till the moon awakes And push them in my cold venes Little children listen on I am the voice from the pillow I sing till the day awakes A bright shine at the heavens sky My heart burns

I listen to this when I'm angry because the beginning is technically me. I'm calm i mostly take it as a joke, than it gradually rises my anger, more and more until I EXPLODE and either shout something very inappropriate or just straight up violence.
