Sensible Prepper Presents: The 3V Gear Paratus 3 Day Assault Pack. This is a reasonable option for your Bug Out Bag or Get Home Bag as well. It has a budget price at $65.98 but the features are great.

That's an awesome pack for $65! And it comes with the side pouches and butt pack, great deal. I have alot of Maxpedition products and love them. I'm thinking this pack would work just fine, and it has a lifetime warranty, great job 3V!

I get that the Guns and gear part of the survival/prepper movement is the most entertaining aspect, but ammo for guns, gear and supplies all run out. Think of in terms of how life is now, sure the things you value the most and you acquire them will change, but the same needs and "wants" and acquisition of these needs and wants are still present just associated with different things ad methods. If you really want to survive in a SHTF situation the best thing you can do Is to make sure that others will want you to survive as well. I would suggest learning medical and mechanical skills. This would make you far more valuable then what gear you may have. The usefulness of your gear to others is the same, weather you are alive or dead. Just like a job... if you want to succeed and guarantee your place with in your employer the best way to do so is to make sure your skills are hard to find, valuable and you can not be easily replaced.

He said 3 day Pack, but I do not know a situation you are going to Bug out for 3 Days, .. Better get your car, money , smart phone, clothes, medicin, 1st Aid, Passport ID, Credit card.. a locked bag and travel car, train, ship, plane to save urban places ....when something is not right to go in the wild next door will not make you save it is the opposite and to wear a gun is the 1st reason to get shot when people are stressed, you better look then poor, lost, and innocent, depressed and boring.

I bought the Paratus and I have only used it twice, once at the gun range, and on a 3-day snow camping trip with my boy with his Boy Scout Troop. Overall, the bag is a good day hiking bag but, the stitching for the MOLLE was inadequate and unraveling everywhere. If you are not going to hang anything heavy on the MOLLE, this might be a good durable bag for you for the price. The 3vGear customer service was a pleasure to work with, we had a very open communication expressing my concerns, and they refunded me with no hassle. Instead, I bought a Condor 3-Day Assault Pack although it is considerably larger.

I am a big man (6'3" 235 lbs) who carries alot of gear in my I.N.C.H. bag. I have a long torso and have had some problems with my back. I can carry heavy loads but they need to be close to my back and most of the weight needs to be on my hips. That's why my large Backpack is an Arcteryx Bora 95 Tall expedition pack capable of carrying 110 litres at 120 lbs. It has the best suspension I could find for less then $700.00. It was around $500.00 and well worth it. With the daisy chain loops running down both sides and multiple compresion straps I don't need all the mollie attatchments. Besides with 110 litre cpacity inside the pack I don't need to attach too much on the outside. I don't have a "72 hour bag" or "get home bag". My phylosophy on the subject is different. I believe you can carry the basics for such a three day senario with a small colapseable (the size of a softball) back pack from wallmart and a butt pack that is the top part of my large backpack. These make up my day pack/hunting pack and or 72 hour packs combined with a Condor H2O pouch and knife on my belt. My butt pack which is the lid on my arcteryx is designed to carry a 2 litre camelback as well as quite a bit of other gear. The wallmart small pack will carry a tarp, ENO Hammock, extra sox, Bahco Laplander, emergency blankets, and other clothing items. The Condor not only carries a 40 OZ stainless steal water bottle and CSI cup but other survival items as well. All of these items are part of my main Arcteryx pack. The 3V Gear as well as alot of Condor packs and pouches are good for what they are but are not in my phylosophy except the H2O Condor Pouch. Also for the guy that thinks 600 D is not good material I know back packs made from the stuff that have gone on expidetions around the world and are over 15 years old and are still trucking. The key is how you chemically treat the materials to make them last.

I use the waist pouch as a medical kit repository. It’s great for emergency situations where a full pack might be too bulky, and the shoulder strap holster on the back of that compartment is super convenient.

Hey just a quick tip from some of my training. Get black electric tape and roll off the ends of the straps then tape them so they stay. You will not have to bother with them and they wont get in your way. Plus it looks squared away.

This is still a very versatile bag only changes I would like to see is mole across the entire front and move the zipper all the way right and the side pouch’s so you can weave in and out the Velcro straps. Still it’s great I’m on my second one

Mine arrived today as well as the Posse slingback. In the case of both bags I pulled hard and long on enough seams to decide they were all sturdy. I'm not talking about a tug, I mean "If it's gonna fail I want it to fail now." 600D is plenty stout so if it's gonna fail it's the stitching. Both bags are easily worth 66 and 24 bucks. No comment on value at all, touch one and you will know it. They are not as finished as a higher priced bag, threads poke out etc (but none of them unraveled anything and I donno about anybody else but I do own a swiss army knife with sissors...) Both bags could have benefitted from about 1" more depth and the molle web is the tightest I have ever worked with, getting the straps through is a serious job. that is where the extra inch would help. I ordered both in Coyote. The Posse came in more sage than coyote, with green trim. Not a complaint since had it been listed that way I would have picked it. But know your colors. The web has only 2 full strap slots wide on the side so nothing bigger (my IFAK is always at least 3, that's frustrating.) Getting one more full slot on there would be worth a buck. The CCW pocket will likely never see a handgun while I carry it. It is open top with a snap. That just doesn't lock it away from touch or view enough for me. I don't have an issue with shoelace pulls instead of para, how hard ya gonna be pulling on them? If I had had this with me a couple weeks ago carying my daughters stuff at the county fair I would have been much happier than the piece of @#$% I had. (And that is why I picked this up, I always seam to be carying somebodies something.) The Paratus is a light coyote with dark straps. It is lighter in color than my other equipment claiming the same color. Donno who has it right. Again 1" would have given them another strap slot and with 4 at the bottom I would have been a happy camper for the size of the first aid kit I would have strapped on. I would like to have seen better waist padding. Also more protection for your water bladder. I expected to hate the hook and loop side pouches. I did. Then the lightbulb above my head turned on, these things are the right size for an IFAK and the hook and loop make them practically tear away. Turns out I like 'em. Now I just wish they clamshelled and had a loop patch for the red cross. Plenty of people are not fans of "morale patches" and I though a big one of the company logo was a bit egotistical. (I am ok with patches in general though, turns out I don't assault a stronghold at 2 a.m.) Then I looked at my other gear, all with logos stitched on. It's not a patch to let me slap it on, it's a patch in case I want to pull it off. The butt pack is what sets this thing off though. That is a heck of a removeable first aid kit. An improvement would be if it could tear away. Or if it is not going to be your FAK then it's a strap on and walk away gear bag. Either way it is well placed on the pack and if you never take it off it's just all the more pouches. I wish 3V would explain the metal loops though they have got to be clever but I can't figure them out. A lot of words but really not much to improve and not much improvement even needed. This pack definately beats a frameless ALICE. In my universe and even considering I have 3 "Max" bags, both these are still keepers.

Great channel, one thing that's never discussed on any prepper channel is foot wear or clothing (which should be prioritised) Being ex military from experience care for your feet is number one. In a SHTF scenario walking will be a way of life. Having durable foot wear and clothing is a must. For an urban scenario I have a pair of thorogood steel toe, non marking, slip, oil and electrical shock resistant shoes that wear almost as good as tennis shoes. Anyone has any other suggestion?

I think it's great that Sootch is showing options for budget-minded folks. I've got plenty of backpacks, but all of them are at least twice as much as this model. While this won't hold up near as well as the Maxpedition bags, I'm certain that this bag would get you (and your gear) to wherever you want to bug out to. I'm not in the market for this bag, but I'm gonna order one of those great patches, Sootch!

This pack is a good enough pack for the money but some of the molle webbing is a bit small to get our molle gear straps through. I replaced the butt pack with a Condor large pouch. Its a lot lighter and it holds my poncho better. I also put a Condor water pouch on one side for my stainless water bottle then put the two side pouches one on top of the other on the other side. I'll probably put that extra butt pack that I took off and put in the truck for tools or fishing gear.

Great review! Before I retired from the US Forest Service a couple of years ago, I was working security in summers at wildland fire camps. I love my Falcon II (I have two of them) and my Proteus. I tried unsuccessfully to join the two together so that I could use the single unit for travel and then detach the Proteus for patrol. I would also have liked a 2 inch padded waist strap on the Falcon II (that I could clip my Janus into for a quick access front pouch). I still think that's something Maxpedition should work on. Tim kindly sent me a two inch strap with the proprietary side release buckles which means I can can run the Janus as a low profile "fanny pack". I also use the strap as a handle on my Maxpedition Colossus dedicated camera bag.

I have an S.O.C. brand backpack which I got from the Army National Guard base exchange in the local area and it is a reasonably priced piece of gear and I was not willing to buy some overpriced junk which I had not seen. The pack is nice and one of the highest priced bags they had in the store. If I had to buy another one I would buy the same brand and try to get it through the Exchange store. I tried to get one from the air base in the area, but they didn't have any in stock.

Maxpedition is quality, but honestly we should all admit it's overpriced. Maxpedition relies upon their name/popularity to perpetuate the overpriced goods theme. I like to see new companies coming in and competing. Some may not have every feature or all the bells and whistles, but I have been pleasantly surprised on more than one occasion. Sure, you can pay more for quality if you decide to, but there's quality and then there's marketing for decadence. You decide which works best for you.

No... Maxpedition is expensive because all of the fabrics they use are waterproofed well. All of the cloned maxpedition gear out there is cheaper because 1. Its made in some Chinese sweat shop. And 2. They don't put proper waterproof treatments on the fabric they usually just use the spray on shit that doesn't last long at all if they even put any treatment on at all.
@HorizonsleatherBlogspot2012

HORIZONS The backpack in question is a maxpedition clone. Your right that there are non maxpedition clones out there but not that many. Most shit on the market these days is maxpedition clone at lower price point. Hell the butt pack on this backpack is a direct copy of the maxpedition Proteus.

In A. American's apocalyptic books the protagonist has his pack on his back and a Maxpedition Devil Dog (since discontinued) in front which holds some "vital need to be able to get to right now" kind of gear. He had his handgun in there and some other stuff. My thought is this, could that rear pouch be used in a similar fashion as the aforementioned Devil Dog pouch? Furthermore, getting a Roll Up case from Roll-N-Go and have a Ruger 10/22 Takedown and some other assorted .22lr gear be in that. It'll hold the 10/22, an optic, over 1600 rounds of ammo, a small .22lr handgun like the Ruger SR22 or the Walther P22, magazines, suppressors and a cleaning kit. Roll it up and hang it back there instead. Or roll up anything else in it instead of the .22lr pack. I dunno....it's a thought.

Great looking pack Sootch! I think it's time I venture away from Maxpedition and give some other brands a try. Thanks for the great video.

I threw 100 bucks at them to get over the free ship point. I have the CC sling pack comeing too. I love sling packs. I'll let ya know what I think. Looking at 'em I will likely pull one of the side pouches off and replace with an AR500 EPIK when they finally get them back in stock (I've had one on B/O for 4 months) then snap the available pouch on the CC and use it for EDC. Not sure how I feel about the hook and loop but no harm in trying it.

thx mr sootch. I've been debating on this bag and this was a good review for it. It's a little big for my needs, I just picked up a Maxpedition Sitka and without it being fully packed it's awkard and heavy, kind of upsetting for the price. Love the bag though and the looks. thx again.

Not to come back to an old video, but what is your opinion for the best overall 3 day pack?

Are sponsored by 3V? I don't know if you addressed it in you video or not, but I have noticed there isn't anything too negative about the bag. I know this can't be the perfect bag, but who knows, I could just be skeptical and cynical about my bags.

Thanks Sootch. You should keep these inexpensive reviews going. I'm partial to 5.11 Tactical and Maxpedition myself. I am starting to build the list of what I want in our bug out bags. But building them is a ways off. Stupid bills. And why did you use your AK variant, instead of one of your many ARs?

I've been looking for something like this for a while now. Something to keep in the car that has a change of clothes, bathroom items. etc. if I get stuck at work for several days due to bad weather. It doesn't need to be super expensive or rugged like a tank because it's just going to sit in the back of the car and have the color bleached out of it by the sun like the bag I'm using now. For a camera / vacation bag that can work as a SHTF bag I'm looking at the Vanquest Trident 20 and am looking forward to checking out their IBEX 30 bag when it comes out.

So many 3-day bags. When is one of these tactical companies going to make an internal framed INCH bag? INCH bag = I'm Never Coming Home Bag Obviously would require much more space (thus the internal frame) than what most people are using for a BOB (72hr bags).

3V Gear =) I am by no means an expert in this field, but I bet Sootch could give some great recommendations. Me, I just mainly look for dark colored bags (green, brown or black-black preferred because it = less military like). I like my water bladder, but by no means is a deal breaker as I did 22 years with my water on my belt and can easily go back to that method. Obviously a bag this size is going to be heavy fully geared up, so hip pads along with a waist belt would be another recommendation. But I trust your engineers will make a great bag no matter what. Just tired of my INCH bag looking like a giant yellow neon sign saying here I am, shoot me and take my gear. =)
