I really appreciate this mechanical advantage series you have put together great info. Who makes the pulleys you are using in these videos?

They are rock exotica omni blocks

Thanks Ryan for your great videos. I have several questions: (1) could this 4:1 be rigged using 2 single-sheave pulleys instead a double-sheave pulley at the anchor? (2) if so, could this modified 4:1 be converted to a 12:1 by attaching a single-sheave pulley the haul-strand with a prusik? and (3) if so, would it be useful to anchor this 3:1 subsystem to a more distant point? Thanks.

what is the purpose of the prussik?

Jumonville basically a progress capture

what do you do with the tag end line if you don't have a becket? Thanks
@maxwellmark6 жыл бұрын
1cleandude to use a double pulley without a becket, simply attach the bitter end or standing end of your rope to the carabiner holding the pulley to the anchor. Be mindful of the knot used to create the loop. If the loop is too short, the knot will force the pulley to the side and will cause friction points at the side plate. Adjust the loop to finish below the pulley to reduce this friction. Not ideal but without a becket it will work fine.

Why is this demonstration rigged to disadvantage. Seems like a waste of energy.

Can you please explain what you mean? Do you mean with the last change of direction for the haul line? The last change of direction is unnecessary most of the time, but then you would need to place your progress capture on another section of the rope. This set up ⬆️ have shown is more common for vertical scenarios like confined space rescue.
