Man I love these bikes I wish Honda would make a retro model with fuel injectors it would be perfect, I have an interstate and a tour model just love to ride them long distance, I usually go Coast to Coast once a year but it’s getting harder to find anyone that wants to go so I might try a solo trip this year, thanks for the video

Your welcome. I have had this one the last 5 years. Runs perfect after I replaced the petcock. Other than that. a set of tires and brake pads.. wash it and ride it. It gets lots of compliments.

Looking awesome, Steve. I recently bought my second one...a 1997 Tourer, pearl green / pearl ivory....and I bought a new 1999 standard, had 4 years and sold in 2003. It's the same story......if you find a clean one..it's the time to buy...because they are priced very reasonable. just pd. 3850.00 for the 97, in sept. 2019.

Wow! $3859 for one of these is an incredible bargain. I paid $5.5K for this one and was glad to do it. PS the brand new original stock exhaust take-offs came with it, along with a Big Boy Ulltimate front/rear and backrest seat.

I dunno. I just had to have one! Thanks Steve, that's pretty much what I told my wife when two weeks ago I showed up out of the blue with a new-to-me 1998 Honda Valkyrie Tour . And I ain't looking back! BTW, it's not lost on me your reference to the Easter Holiday and the Valkyrie!

So after two full riding seasons I'm still having a whale of time with my '98 Valk Tour. Unfortunately, just as Indian Summer was in full swing here on Long Island, I discovered that my hydro-clutch is leaking and so my ride has been sidelined. Got parts on order and hoping to be back to riding toot sweet! Que Wagner!

Great looking bike. I have a 2000 Valkyrie Interstate and love it. I can't wait for spring. I'm having Cycle Design replace the front fork seals and install progressive springs. See you on the road....
@srl12152 жыл бұрын
Were the seals leaking? I'll end up doing that sooner or later. I'm in Ashby and I ride with another guy that rides a Valk who lives in Fitchburg. We should meet for a ride sometime.

Thank you for the input. There a still as good a touring motorcycle as anything else out there. (I won't ride a new generation Goldwing because I know I'd want one) But I love the Valk! I got it out the other day for the first time this year and it impresses me as much as it did in 2001 when I bought my first one. It was a beautiful and I was on a beautiful winding road I grabbed a bunch or throttle and whoa! It reminded me it's more than smooth it's also got plenty of go! :)
@Bags2723 Жыл бұрын
Very nice. I realize this video is 5 yrs old but I had to comment. I have the very same motorcycle in my garage waiting for spring atm. Mine is a 2000 model and I assume yours is too. I live in central Ontario so we're not riding until sometimes May but we do ride snowmobiles through the winter. Anyway, my Valkyrie currently has about 33000kms and I've added highway pegs and a sissy bar, but It still has the original exhaust. Unfortunately I also have a dime sized stone dent on my front fender that needs to be fixed. I love the toe-heel shifter and floorboards and I think I may just change it over this coming season for a little more comfort. I finally caved and bought a 2022 Honda Goldwing Tour last spring but I still take the old Valkyrie for a good ride from time to time. Cheers.
@srl1215 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a model year 2000. I bought it with 31K miles on it, and I added the floorboards and shifter. The Floorboards were new old stock Cobras, (tuff to find) and the kick shifter was one of the original "Rattlebars" made in garage units that gave me a 1-inch lower footing. Which adds comfort too. The pipes are the rare 2 Brothers cannister pipes with a cross over right behind the headers. The carbs have been rejected because of the pipes, which causes high speed/RPMS gas milage to drop to 24 miles per gallon. But normal riding I get 42mpg. I love the bike. It's my 3rd one. I also own a HD 2015 Road KIng.
@bobbyfranklin37344 жыл бұрын
I own this same bike..Same color. I will never sell it. 40.000 miles .. Runs like a Caddilac.. I put 2 brothers exhaust on it
@srl12154 жыл бұрын
Bobby I'll never sell this one. It's my 3rd one. I had a 98 standard I put 103K miles on it. It came o an unfortunate end, so I bought an IS and didn't really care for the IS and then I found this one. Bought this one, sold the IS. Lived happily ever after! This one also has 2 Bros exhaust but it''s not the 6-into-6 it's the canister style. Bit it's a nice set-up, great 2Bros sound and performance.

@@srl1215 I have owned three gold wings. But this is my first Valkyrie absolutely love it. But the fuel mileage is much lower than my gold wings were. Of course that is due to this 6 carburetors. But it is a small price to pay for the power it puts out
@srl12154 жыл бұрын
@@bobbyfranklin3734 I get about 145 to 150 before I hit reserve, about 40mpg. This one I "think" had been rejetted for the big jets due to the pipes. I say that because it has a bit more torque than most Y2Ks or anything past the 97/98s and I found a Dyno chart in under the saddle inside the owners manual. I only discovered on a ride up to Caribou Maine. There is a section of I95 from Bangor to Houlton that is a +70mph piece of road, totally straight, lightly traveled with nothing but pine trees for 135 miles. I hit reserve 25 miles from HOulton. MY buddy with a stock Valk how was with me had no such problem. We were doing 75 to 80mph all the way, my mileage dropped to about 24mpg. I usually get 40+mpg when I am my normal fairly conservative self.

are there any know problems with the 99, I've heard that the Petcock can cause issues. thoughts
@srl12157 жыл бұрын
My petcock had to be replaced and was a flakey problem until I replaced it. It would act like it was out of gas,but only going uphill on long climbs at about 3Krpm.. apparently the vacuum diaphram wasn't opening adequately to feed all six carbs enough gas for a prolonged period under load.. the float bowls would finally empty and the bike would stutter and fart.. then let go of the throttle for 5 seconds and they would fill back up and it would be okay...
@srl12156 жыл бұрын
Fairly easy job to remove the tank, change the petcock and put it back together. Some guys do a mod to use a different non-OEM petcock that eliminates the vacuum automatic shutoff (even if you don't manually shut off the gas) and depends on manual fuel shutoff, but at the same time, eliminates the complexity and possibility of failure of the rubber diaphragm that is built into the stock petcock.

They are 2 Bros Valkyrie Canisters. They didn't really sell many as opposed to their 6-into-6 pipes. You should keep an eye on the VRCC classified and eBay, They have been discontinued for many years.
