How much seat time do you have? I'm new to sim racing in general. But holy hell on basically every track I'm coming in like 20-30 seconds slower than your times. It's crazy. I can take a faster car and get really close but the fact you're taking a the runed 86 and doing these times is amazing. The real life Takumi. Watching how smooth you get those slip angles. You make it look like the car is easy to turn. Me? I understeer no matter what I do. But again I have maybe 100 hours of racing in various titles now.

@@tripwire3992 I probably shouldn't answer this as I'm barely getting above average times. I'm sitting at maybe 200 hours of sims racing in total spread across many titles. But I think the main thing I have learned about cars like the AE86 is the way to counter the understeer is by trail braking, OR doing like Dank here does and use slip angles. Which slip angle/inertia drifting is something in MY opinion is way tougher because you're already good enough that you're pushing the car to its limits as is. I have just learned to apply a good amount of brakes maybe 80% in a straight line lifting the rear of the car then it allows you glide into the corners a little better. Understeer at least speaking about myself just means you're either going too fast into the corners, or you've applied too much brakes and steering too hard while doing so. You gotta find that balance. Obviously I can sit here and BS all day but just watch his braking inputs, watch his steering. Go watch how to trail brake, just keep learning and then go apply it and watch how bad you do. lol But it will start to click after a while. I'm slowly getting there. At first when I got my wheel I literally questioned how in the hell anyone can be faster with it over a controller. Sometimes I still think I'll personally always be better with a controller... But I digress. If anyone disagrees with what I'm talking about above feel free to call me on it and chime in and help all of us. I think the only helpful advice is seat time.

you should rewatch this video because the author did show what to me seems like the peak of sim racing, seriously, every single corner he took was perfect. just a look at the steering wheel that is making little adjustments tells me that the driver got some experience and he fully feels the inertia pulling him. he is not only choosing the most optimal lines but going straight 100% sliding over them with no hesitation

I have a question, you seem to rev it all the way out, doing WOT no lift shifts and you barely ever bounce off the rev limiter. I hate to be that guy but, what if any assists were you running? I find it strange that at WOT no lift shift, the RPMs don't shoot for the rev limiter even with the clutch slip would would add to the RPM reving up to the limiter. I've tried replicating the shifting and I end up not being able to shift as fast unless I lift first. Having said all of that I know that There are people who are insanely skilled such as yourself, I am not trying to accuse you of anything, I am just genuinely curious as to how you are getting shifts like that as they don't seem normal to me. I am used to running with No assists like TC, ABS, Stability, no auto clutch, no auto shifting, and no auto blip. I am using a controller so I am curious if there might be something there that is screwing me over on my shifts that I'm not aware of.
