We are going to explain the y=mx+b slope intercept formula as it relates to scaling 4-20mA signals. PLC inputs rarely scale values directly to a 4-20mA signal. Additionally the 4mA live zero confuses many people when trying to plug a raw analog input into the slope intercept equation of y=mx+b. So we are going to explain what the y, m, x, and b mean. We have explained in previous videos how to connect your 4-20mA analog signal to your PLC input and how to configure your analog modules in Rockwell Automation's Studio 5000 for an Allen Bradley Compactlogix PLC.
