I've been shocked how well this helps. I've been in such a bad and depressed mood since coming to college. After one session I noticed a shift. I wasn't anxious anymore and have been laughing and enjoying the world again. I don't know if anyone else has gotten such a dramatic shift, and I highly doubt it's the placebo effect (I've done plenty of meditation exercises and have never had so quick and dramatic of a shift). Thanks so much for making this video! :)

Close your lips and inhale through your nose for a count of four. Hold your breath for a count of seven. Exhale completely through your mouth making a whoosh sound for a count of eight. Do 4-7-8 breathing anytime you feel stressed. It will become more powerful as you use it. Practice doing it before you respond to an upsetting situation and whenever you're having trouble getting to sleep. Thanks so much for making this video!

I have been doing it for more than a year and I am happy to tell that it has helped me a great deal in coping with the panic disorder which is almost nil now. Now I have a few questions. 1.Can we do it at any time of the day? Will it induce sleep and interfere with daily activities if done during daytime? 2. Can we do it any number of times in a day? 3. Can we do it before or after taking bath? 4. Can we do it before or after taking meals?

@@HandsOnMeditation I tried it yesterday and I really enjoyed it! I'm not sure but were the later counts a bit slower than the earlier counts? The parts I love about the panic attack version are the small moments of encouragement - I love it so much that my partner and I always say "you're doing a good job" to each other 😄. I would love to hear those in the additional versions. I typically do a breath work exercise for about 10-20 minutes each morning or as needed so this 10 minute version will be very useful in my daily routine! Your 4-7-8 exercises are the only ones I listen to and have helped me for 1+ year in gaining control of my symptoms. I am so grateful! ❤

Proper breathing can be extremely effective for both physical and mental health. On a physical level this will result in richer oxygenation of the blood which will result in many health benefits and perhaps even a longer life. But the true power of the breath comes into play when it is used to achieve a calmer and more centered being. You become better equipped to deal with life's difficulties and stressful situations. It can also be helpful in times of extreme grief and bereavement. The book “the full breath” of James Francis explains all this and also explains in simple terms the concept of spiritual development and enlightenment. One of the things that can ruin our health and our lives more than anything else is stress and mental distress. If you know someone who is suffering in life or is in great difficulty, this book could help them fight their way out and become happy and balanced again.

excellent vid great vibe. i do this because i know it's good for me but for some reason i find deep breathing extremely uncomfortable and even anxiety inducing. no idea why that mite be deep breathing is one of the healthiest practices one can take on. i force myself to do it anyway because again i know it's good for me in every possible way. i wonder if anybody else finds it as uncomfortable as i do never heard anybody talk about or mention it.

It’s normal to find the exercise challenging at first. You may wish to start with the learn abdominal breathing exercise. Then try the beginner version of the 478 breathing exercise on this channel.

just triggered my headache in the first breath. holding it for long time made me tense. I am more comfortable with normal belly breathing. 3 seconds inhale, 4 second exhale.

@@HandsOnMeditation I didn't want to be rude by the way. I didn't tried. but I will check it out. I am trying to activate my parasympathatic nervous system because I have pelvic floor tightness and also jaw clenching.
