Exploring Nomad / repeazie1988
Along a busy stretch of road sits a section of properties that are abandoned. It appears that a total of four residences are here with some garages and sheds. Built into a mountain side, the homes leave a lot of questions unanswered. When did they all leave? When was the fire? Why is there so much left in the one house? Those questions may never get answered but at least we get to look at the past as to how they live. Enjoy
Please Note: Exploring Abandoned locations can be dangerous. I don't condone or encourage anyone to enter an Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal. I simply go to document its history before it's gone and leave things the way I find them. I assume all the risks & responsibility in doing so. Please don't attempt to do this on your own.

As a genealogist I have to say, I wish when you find family photos you would take them to the local library. Most libraries have a family information area. All the old furniture and china breaks my heart too.

People, if you die and don't have a will, the State will decide what to do with your things. It can take YEARS to settle an estate. And even if your children / heirs WANT to go in and clean up a house or remove things, the State will NOT ALLOW it. SO go see a lawyer and take care of your business.

Yup. No brainer here. Hospital bed, busy 4 lane highway, house foundation looked bad, no one wanted because needed repairs or left to decay too long after owner(s) died.
@ruthsnyder3462
@ruthsnyder3462 4 жыл бұрын
I disagree. If you have family when you die, your estate will go to a family member. At least in Pennsylvania. It's in the law which family member gets it. So if you want aunt Sue to have it you better make a will or brother Bill will get it. But the state won't.

I'd say that when these were built that road was probably not as wide or as busy. Being that close made them less than desirable to live in. Asking around the area or checking with the realtor or tax records would yield a lot of answers about them. The difference in conditions suggests that they weren't all abandoned at the same time.

It sucks the place is literally right up to the road. Imagine trying to back out of your garage there. Although certainly not the first time I've seen this setup in old parts of towns. And with people still living in them that must face this conundrum. With the exception of the burned out hulks, I see these and feel someone must have really loved it in it's day. It's a shame how houses like this just fall to waste once people leave. It's not just the bad roof or other parts that go to disrepair, it's as if the occupant's life energy had kept the house alive. When they died or otherwise left, the house did too (dies). If I had the means (spare millions of dollars of expendable income) I'd make it my hobby to restore as many of them as I could and rent them so they'ed last for another 100 years or so. At least where it would be feasible; not like the run down slums areas that had little chance of ever coming back.
@JPVideos81
@JPVideos81 6 жыл бұрын
I have to agree, the first house was someones whole life that they took good care of. The burned house had a family there who was unfortunately displaced. The location is good and bad. Good because its isolated with no other homes around, but bad because of the closeness to the road and lack of back yards.

The bike is a Schwinn, the model might be a Hornet, I'm not 100% sure though. The tractor is a Simplicity or Allis Chalmers, an earlier model late 50's to mid 60's, will out push or out pull a John Deere or Cub Cadet of the same era. The Cadillac looks like an Allante which would be worth saving. there was even a high wheel cultivator by the bicycles that had a bike wheel in place of the original. Lots of cool stuff in this place.

The old white chair I believe goes with the white drop leaf table in the basement. I loved the kitchen sink and the claw foot tub. The old sewing machine makes a great table or desk. The old heater was great. There is not many left of these gems from the past. If that was just a old country road (which it probably was at one time) would be a quiet place up on the hill. Thanks for the video

After watching so many of these videos I'm beginning to wonder if the reason the houses are abandoned with most of the belongings is because maybe somebody died in there and their bodies were found at a later date and the homes had a bad smell so the family members just left everything in there. Because that happened to one of my neighbors

***Cadillac Allanté is a two-door, two-seater luxury roadster produced by Cadillac from 1987 until 1993. It used a Cadillac chassis and running gear with a body built in Italy by coachbuilder Pininfarina. It was expensive to produce with the complete bodies flown to Detroit for final assembly. My guess: The owner of the property died with no real assets and probably the heirs/descendants are either not in the area or didn't have a close relation to that person. Probably there were tax liens on the property that no one wanted to pay for. And cleaning the home would be pointless if they couldn't sell the property. :(

It's interesting. I love exploring abandoned places but houses are to me the most fascinating. I can't really understand how it happens though. I mean I can't imagine one day just up and leaving and never coming back. Leaving everything behind, pictures and books and clothes. I know sometimes it's because folks pass away, but wouldn't their family clean out the home and sell the stuff or donate it? Even if they don't have family and the house is paid off wouldn't someone still reclaim it for unpaid taxes? How do places wind up abandoned really? If anyone knows the answer I would be eager to hear because it's something I have wondered about this for a long time. Especially when the place looks like they were there one minute and gone the next. It's weird.
@JPVideos81
@JPVideos81 5 жыл бұрын
There's no one short answer. For this case. An elderly person passed away in the small home and as you saw the notes of paper on the items. They sold what was of value or kept it and left the fest behind. The property has been on the market for years.

Where are the people that left all their belongings behind? Where are their families? Did something happened to them? Who leaves all their belongings behind, photos,furniture,clothes their whole world who does that? Maybe they won the lottery but still you would take things sentimental like photos with you.

If u move to a home , u can only take so much. And u get old enough you just could care less about all the stuff. And lots of people cut themselves off from family. And fam prob have enough 💩. I didn’t see a thing I’d want. I have so much junk already.

Those houses are so close to the road. It must have been hard to sleep with ALL that noise. It also must have been hard to have windows open. It sounds like you're living right on the road. Interesting though. I don't understand why dangerous burnt up houses aren't torn down.

this looks like rt 6 in chinchilla or rt 11 below Plymouth maybe the Avondale area . probably all relatives dying off leaving the houses abandoned til the last one died probably in the hospital never to return , and probably lived there for awhile without electricity from the looks of all those lanterns . probably the end of their lineage .

Exactly my thought. They grandfathered in on the property. Probably was a front row view to a dusty old dirt road way back when . It's all they had they had so they held out to the bitter end. Bless me.

One of the many blighted properties in NEPA. This area is loaded with them. The place I live in now was empty for 35 years. I'm fixing it up in lieu of rent.

For Sale! wow this would need to be demolished before anything could be built on it. That old stove was beautiful. What the world flowers even though fake are still on the table. I wonder if people still live there as the kitchen dining area still looks pretty well taken care of. That bed frame is gorgeous. That bed looks like someone could sleep on it now. Love the sink and faucet. that place was neat to see. That wooden ladder I would love to have as I recycle things. thanks for another great adventure.

Some cool old stuff in there. The property would be a good commercial investment depending on the location, but I would tear down the collapsed ,and burned houses and garage clear that land for more parking , and refurbish the rest . Maybe a little country store, fruit stand, antiques. I can see the potential.

almost every building you go into looks like someone tossed it. People have no respect for others things. Even if it could have been saved after the vandals get through with it, no one can use it.

It truly amazes me the things that people leave behind. I wonder if it's left because the owners have no where to keep it, or if they just don't realize the value of some of these things? It's such a waste and heartbreaking at the same time :(

Bottom half of a Hoosier cabinet with the enamel top, in the kitchen. With the top half intact, they can be $800.00- $1000.00. I've been looking for one. But I don't wanna pay 800.00 or more.

It's crazy how they just left so many things behind in some of those houses. If these places were sold you would have to knock down all the houses and build new.
