One thing I really appreciate about Ryobi is their consistency with their battery platform. I still have a Ryobi set I bought 20 years ago and it operates just fine on the newest batteries. I have a brad nailer, angle grinder and palm router all purchased in the last 6 months and they use the same batteries as my old, trusty Ryobi set from 2 decades ago. That to me is amazing.

I ran a small construction company for 40 + years, used a lot of brands, switched to Ryobi tools, about 25 years ago, cost was a big part, when some one dropped and broke one, doesn’t hurt,but they are still in my shop, do everything I need , so it might take couple seconds longer, no big problem, I have all the time in the world 😂

Me too. My Milwaukee tools kept walking away. Once I got Ryobi tools nobody stole them. I can still do installs with the Ryobi driver i picked up 35 years ago

I have a lot of various makes of tools from hilti to Milwaukee Makita and ryobi I find the ryobi very good iv had no problems with batteries or switches goin they all still work 10 out of 10 for reliability

Batteries are one of the biggest costs and best sales on batteries have been for almost everything but ryobi. In particular you can find deals on Milwaukee batteries for much cheaper than ryobi and frequently on the tools themselves as well. Ryobi batteries are some of the worst so paying a lot more for them is insane

@@L0st-n0found home depot usually runs sales for tool/battery bundles, "X and two batteries for $100", you can return the tool after purchase and wind up with their higher quality batteries for maybe $25 each. If you can wait for their sales (they almost happen monthly) it makes them a lot cheaper.

I used my brothers DeWalt Jig Saw and loved it and I used my buddy's Milwaukee Sawzall and loved it. It seems Ryobi has came out with similar models and I couldn't be happier. I have the Ryobi 6 port battery charger and didn't want to switch platforms to get those styles. I am a Ryobi fan boy with about 15 tools and counting ;)

I agree with Matt for years I would not buy any Ryobi products, recently I was given 2 tools by a sales men to use on my job site, and they are awesome!!! Never thought I would say this but just as good as Dewalt, they have really changed their products in the past few years.

I was working as a handyman decades ago and all I could afford was ryobi, the old blue ones. 15 years later I upgraded to the lithium tools when the years of abuse finally did in the keyless chuck in my original drill. We now can afford “better” tools but use the ryobi exclusively, in the house, garden, auto shop, wood shop, trucks, and rv. I’m always happy with the value and performance. My old, brushed, ryobi impact outperforms my buddies dewalt every time.

When you're comparing tool vs tool, or even battery vs. battery, it would only be fair, AND, give you the most accurate results if each tool and each test were performed with a fully charged battery, and a new, unused blade.

I used only milwaukee when I used them for work every day. But When I got out of the trade I was in I started getting Ryobi for home jobs and projects. Im super happy with everything from them. for the more important stuff I try to get brushless if its an option.

If you need a tool and your preferred brand is at full price, while a similar quality tool from a different manufacturer is cheaper and comes with a battery, consider purchasing the other brand. This way, when you need a new tool in the future, you'll have more options to choose from.

Exactly…..I own Makita, DeWalt, Flex Tool systems. With Makita I even have two different voltages (LXT, CXT). I have the flexibility of buying from a wide range of bare tools from these companies if one is needed. But I can understand that more professionals would prefer all their tools to be on one platform since they’re hauling everything to job sites.

Out of all of my Ryobi sanders, after about 30 seconds, the paper no longer sticks. I even replaced with new Velcro. Is this one any better? I seen how it looked like the round paper pad was starting to slip off in your video.

Worked with my brother, a kitchen remodeler (& retired Ironworker.) He was always grabbing my Ryobi 18v drill/driver, that outlasted his ‘yellow’ tools for battery life. The weak reputation very early blue Ryobi tools had is not applicable to the green line. Battery technology has come a long way, but Ryobi’s super wide selection of tools is awesome.

I loved Ryobi except for the batteries. I had multiple batteries that barely got used before they outright failed to take a charge, that’s when I switched to DeWalt. I found adapters online to use DeWalt Batteries with my Ryobi tools, now I use both. But all new tools I buy will be DeWalt unless they just aren’t available. I have already bought DeWalt replacements for my older Ryobi tools although I still have some working Ryobi tools I’ve had for over 15 years. No doubt I trust Ryobi tools I’ve had last but I just don’t trust their batteries. Five years with DeWalt batteries now and not a single failure. Lessons learned!

This is one of the most important factor wich in all of these videos promoting tools and testing they do not test, because none of these youtube channels actually work with these tools for a living to give feedback on the batteries. And also this is the most important because battieries when it comes to cordless tools are the most expencive part of them. I've been using alot of tools, except dewalt, because in EU where i live dewalt is not too popular, and because at the price of dewalt tools you can buy better brands. Such as makita, hitachi(wich now is hikoki), bosh, etc. The best batteries i've seen so far, and i am speaking here using the tools for months and even years of abuse. Nr.1 would be both milwakee and hikoki. Then would be bosh and makita yet to find out, since i have not really abused this brand too much. But so far seems promising. I have 3 5Ah hikoki batteries wich is 100euro each. I abused these 3 batteries for 7 months on a construction site every single day. Then build my house with it, and they still work like new, i hardly see any age on the power delivery. These batteries worked in freezing temperature and scorching hot sun. I am really really impressed with this brand. Then i bought a brusless skill saw(skill is also the brand) with one 4ah battery, and i can see how the battery loses alot of charge after 2,3 cuts then it charges bach by itself. This is the sign of a cheap battery wich will not have a lot of life in it. In fact this is also a sign of a battery dying. Batteries are a major factor in deciding what tools to buy and people forget that.

Ever so slowly I am coming around to Ryobi. Their cordless nailers are excellent unless it is below freezing, they do not work in these conditions. I have the Bauer cordless sander because 20$ on sale cannot be beat. It is like trying to hold a pitbull chasing a squirrel. It does what I need it to do up high. Thanks

I'm going to have get one of those barrel back jigsaws. I was going to get the Milwaukee M18 barrel back since they're my favorite cordless, but since I don't do a lot of wood working these days and the Ryobi is about half the price, I'll go with the Ryobi. I've used barrel backs (different brand) before and they give much better control over your cuts and are frankly more comfortable to use. I already have a couple of Ryobi cordless tools and their batteries so I'm already part of their eco system. And on any orbital disk sander, if you want the dust extraction to work, you have to use sanding disks with the holes in them and the holes need to match the holes and be in alignment with the holes in the sanders pad. If you don't, the dust has no where to go and the tools extraction does nothing.

When my old Hitachi 18V drill gave up the ghost, I decided to move into the Ryobi 18V One+ line. My wife likes the garden-oriented tools, and I'm expanding the 18V line in my shop with Ryobi. I like that most versions of Ryobi's tools are available from online retailers who deal in refurb and blemished equipment. I have also purchased some aftermarket batteries that have performed well, so far anyway. Edit to add: Don't overlook the 18V inflator tool. We always keep it in the vehicle when traveling. It saved me once in a remote area in Canada on a fishing trip.

i know sawzall blades are expensive, and 1 cut really isnt degrading the blade that much, but i still think you should have given each battery a new blade, especially because the weakest battery also got the dullest blade lol still a great review tho, ive been on the fence about supplementing my dewalt collection w some ryobi, and this may have pushed me further.

I had the must have red gear in my business, had a lot of warrenty problems and half of my tools were in for repair within 6 months, I bought a couple of Ryobi drills and Impact drivers to tide me over, well that was 12 years ago and they have outlasted the Millwalki by about 5 years and are my secondary drill driver now. As a high end boatbuilder I solely use ryobi in a workshop full of red and have no isues what so ever with the results along with some banter for my tool choice, as the other trades use my gear they are presently surprised especially with the brushless hp jigsaw.

Interesting new tools! My biggest question would be longevity of the batteries. I’ve had Makita for a very long time and the batteries just last forever which is omportant since the can cost more than the tool sometimes. I’ve been using ryobi since before I even started woodworking. Don’t consider myself a woodworker per se but I’m still learning a lot. How does that sander compare to the DeWalt/Craftsman corded sanders you've recommended? Several years ago, I won a six tool Ryobi set from a giveaway on the Workshop Addict channel. I love those tools. They were a huge improvement over my old Craftsman C3 tools. I just do DIY and hobby woodworking, and they're amazing for what I do. That old cordless sander is weak. Actually, weak is being really generous. I was excited to see there's a new one.

Very good review. I’ve said in past comments on your channel 731, you spur competition in tool manufacturing. I don’t hate any tool company, but Ryobi seems to be the most successful in innovative ideas. I want DeWalt, Milwaukee and all the others to step up. Competition is beneficial especially to the consumer. Secondly, the vibration factor is a HUGE concern. I’m north of 70 and still use many tools. At the end of the day my wrist and elbow joints are talking to me. I realize you 40-50 year old kids may not think about it, but life catches up with you….fast.😢

Gonna keep my DeWalts, but seems like a decent option for a lower budget buyer. Diablo also has some great jigsaw blades that are made in Switzerland. I've got a 20-piece set that was less than a third of what a Festool set of the blade count is that has a wider variety of useful blades the Festool set doesn't, including scroll cut, reverse cut, and a top & bottom cut blade that trimmed the ends of a walnut slab beautifully smooth.

While I'm i n love with my Festool RO125, I've also learned there are some things from them you just don't buy due to the offset value curve. Blades are one of them. That said, my 9 inch rectangle sander is Ryobi corded HD...it's sooo good and doesn't break the bank. Finding the best value for durable usage is the meta game really with tools.

I believe the small circular saw is also called a trim saw. When cutting trim you don't need tons of power.

I hate safety switches that need two hands to operate or are difficult to use. That encourages people to do a work around. Good to see improvements. I have Ryobi and a few of those old wont name tools that have been discontinued

0-3 makes much more sense than 1-4, because the 0 setting means there’s 0 orbital motion. What would a low end of 1 imply?

hey is there such a thing as an adaptor that converts a battery operated tool into something that can be plugged in. I know this would make it less convenient.. Just wondering in a case where you might need to use a tool , but maybe foolishly might not have a battery charged up..

I'm a little pissed about this video. I have basically all the ryobi tools except these three and now I have to order them because you said they're so great. I have hated ever battery operated sander I have ever tried except the Flex is actually decent but now I have to get this one because I have a lot more ryobi batteries and it looks better. Thanks now I have to explain to my wife why I had to spend $400 on tools I already own. This should go over well haha!

They make a few decent things but if you need any customer service you are SOL. I’ve been trying to get a piece for my thickness planer since February. Now I just use it as a paper weight. I’m changing to team yellow now.

Ryobi suffer the same problem as the other brands - the batteries will eventually go bad. I only have 1 Milwaukee battery, and I used it on table saws, braking die grinder and impact wrench and the battery is still alive.
