I booked a small role in an independent film and they provided the sides for most of the roles on their website (it was an open call). I read all of the sides, even for the characters I wasn't reading for, just to get clues on the story and my character's relationships. I think it contributed a lot to my self tape. Thanks Will!!

What a great idea for a video! It's lovely to find an actor open to sharing their experiences - most of the actors I know are very guarded and secretive, which is such a shame in an industry that can make you feel so alone! Thank you for being so genuine x

Dude, this is a great service. Actually seeing your auditions helps a lot. It has really shown me that actually the tapes I have sent out are okay, the fact that I haven't booked yet are just as you imply, a "numbers game". I can take comfort in the fact that I have gotten called in multiple times for the same shows. If my auditions sucked that wouldn't happen.

I’m new to acting and have taken a couple 4 to 6 week acting intensives with different acting studios. They all teach us how to develop characters with backstories, strong needs, etc. which is why I was so surprised to learn that costar roles are more about moving the plot along and not having a super developed character, and not overshadowing the main character. Knowing this, it makes the idea of quickly doing a self tape for a costar role a more reasonable sounding goal. You have great videos. Thank you.

Will! I saw your scene in Generation back in April and screamed, I was so happy for you. It’s crazy how much you can root for other actors who you don’t even really know. It made me really excited. Keep making moves. 🙏🏽

Hey Will. I appreciate 🙏 people like you. Working actors with experience who share those experiences with us! Thank you 😊! Your knowledge, experience and wisdom truly helps! I am brand spanking new to acting! I'm very late as I'm pushing 43! But I figure we only live once, and there are no sequels! LOL. So I decided to pursue acting by taking acting classes all year long throughout 2022. Prior to 2022, I never acted a day in my life! Last month in Jan 2023, I got signed to a talent agency here in Chicago where I'm from. Since then, I've auditioned for The Chi on Showtime, a commercial, and this past weekend, Chicago PD. Costar roles. Very very similar to your 4 auditions here! I'm hoping I get the Chicago PD role since I didn't get my first two auditions. Thank you again. Please 🙏 make more videos like this to help us beginners! Much love brother! ❤️

I have been learning so much from your videos. I do modeling and acting myself, but only have local experience besides being trained by the industry network. But thank you so much for all the help you give and inspiration. I’m waiting on my jeep to get out of the shop and my boyfriend and I are moving to Cali from texas. And I’ve sold all my furniture, we sold his truck, doing everything we possibly can to make sure we have the money to live down there for a little while until I start my job on Venice. I’m very serious about acting. And I hope jumping and risking everything is most definitely worth moving there. Cause I plan to continue to try and will go to as many auditions as possible. I’m very greatful for the tips you share. Thank you for all the advice! It means so much to us new actors

This is amazing! I'm an actor in London, very interesting to listen to how things work in LA. Here in the UK we have to be off book for self-tapes, defo no script in hand. Interesting thing I've learnt from this though is to submit EARLY! Never really considered that but it makes sense. Always thought better to work on the scene but tbh most of the time you just end up procrastinating lol. Either way, like you said, it' 90% about your look, sound etc than the actual talent, so working an extra day on the scene probably doesn't help that much. Great video! I'm launching my own channel focusing on British Actors very soon, so your stuff has been really inspiring to watch. Keep it coming! 🤙

Hahaha that’s the secret isn’t it!? For me, I find a daily routine helps. Walking Toby 🐕 and doing other things that are grounding, like listening to a book or working out, help me have daily “wins” even if I haven’t had a lot of recent bookings. Take care of you and yours for the long haul, because it’s a marathon and you don’t want to burn out!
@maloganson64813 жыл бұрын
@@WillyDubz thank you so much! Follow up if that’s ok… when starting out, how did you support yourself financially? I’m just about to go into college so I got some time to figure it out but I have no clue how to start with that side of acting.

@@maloganson6481 I have some inheritance money that helps me stay afloat, but I'm friends with plenty of working actors who make it work with a part-time job coaching or waitressing etc. They make it work, and they work their butts off.

Hey Will, I just discovered your channel and wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences within this field, it has been really inspiring for me. This might be too personal, but it would be cool to know more logistics on whether you’re able to live comfortably based on the amount of jobs you are booking currently compared to when you were first starting out. Or something along those lines! For those who are living solo and just getting started.
