सौरभ Sir बहुत बहुत बधाई आपको ,इतना अनमोल रत्न खोज निकाला आपने । सम्पूर्ण महाभारत 19 खण्डों में ,मैं तो देखकर ही रोमांचित हो रहा हूँ । वैसे महाभारत को सभी लोग घर में रख सकते ,भगवद्गीता और विष्णुसहस्रनाम महाभारत का ही अंग है । महाभारत अवश्य सबको पढ़ना चाहिए ,महाभारत महात्म्य में कहा है जयो नामेतिसोऽयं श्रोतव्यो मोक्षमिच्छता । ब्राह्मणेन च राज्ञा च गर्भिण्या चैव योषिता ।। स्वर्गकामो लभेत् स्वर्गं जयकामो लभेज्जयम् । गर्भिणी लभते पुत्रं कन्यां वा बहुभागिनीम् ।। अर्थात् -'जय' नामक यह इतिहास मोक्षकी इच्छा रखने वाले ,ब्राह्मण ,राजा और गर्भवती स्त्रियोंको तो अवश्य सुनना चाहिये । इसके सुनने से स्वर्ग की इच्छा करने वाले को स्वर्ग ,जय की इच्छा वाले को जय और गर्भवती स्त्री को पुत्र या बड़े भाग्यवाली कन्या रत्न की प्राप्ति होती है। कुछ लोग यह कहते हैं महाभारत घर में नहीं रखना चाहिये ,उन्होंने महाभारत महात्म्य का यह वचन स्मरण रखना चाहिये - भारतं शृणुयान्नित्यं भारतं परिकीर्तयेत् । भारतं भवने यस्य तस्य हस्तगतो जय ।। अर्थात् महाभारत का श्रवण कीर्तन सदैव करना चाहिये । जिसके घर में महाभारत का श्रवण-कीर्तन होता है उसके विजय तो हस्तगत ही है । वेदे रामायणे पुण्ये भारते भरतर्षभ । आदौ चान्ते च मध्ये च हरि: सर्वत्र गीयते ।। भारतश्रवणे राजन् पारणे च नृपोत्तम । सदा यत्नवता भाव्यां श्रेयस्तु परिमिच्छता ।। हे भरतर्षभ ! वेद ,रामायण और पवित्र महाभारत इन सबमें आदि ,मध्य और अन्त में सर्वत्र सर्वत्र श्रीहरि का ही कीर्तन किया गया है । अतः हे नृपश्रेष्ठ ! उत्तम श्रेयमोक्ष की इच्छा रखने वाले प्रत्येक पुरुष को महाभारत का श्रवण और परायण करने में सदा प्रयत्नवान् रहना चाहिये ।।

I agree Mahabharat is like a really good life lesson that why you should not be arrogant, greedy, filled with hatred and teach us to be more tolerant and be more respecting towards elders and spread only love, kindness and harmony. I don't know from where this misconception emerged but this should end and every parent should teach their child about the teachings and values of Mahabharat.

I read the entire Critical edition of Mahabharata translated by Bibek Debroy last year. Took me 7 months and was an incredible journey! When he mentioned BORI, I already knew what it was. Now I want this in my library!!

Loved the episode. I guessed it was Mahabharat. Book reading has been a lifelong passion for me. I believe people who really love reading buy their own books or borrow from libraries. Those who borrow from friends and don’t return are not really into reading and enhancing their knowledge. There’s so much out there to read. One lifetime is not enough. I hope I still have time left to read Ulysses and MobyDick. Finally bought them. Right now reading Savarkar by Vikram Sampath. It saddens me when I see so many young people in India don’t read anything and only while away time in silly movies only. How can one change this among India’s youth ? Any ideas ?

Critical edition of Mahabharat has been translated by Bibek Debroy into English. It is available free of cost on internet (pdf). Another outstanding translation which I like is by Krishna Mohan Ganguly. This is also available free on internet (pdf can be downloaded as well as html pages which can be easily accessed & read online). Buying is also good because someone has to fund these efforts. Congratulations on buyings. PDFs are difficult to navigate and Mr Debroy's numbering I do not understand.

I have made an MS Word file on books which i am going to read or i should . In those there are till now 156 books has been written by me from different sources and on various subjects , starting from comics to Philosophy , Psychology and laws and history and politics , geographic and demographic characters and ending up with biographies of famous personalities including polymaths ... (The most authentic & well researched biography of Ch. Shivaji written so far) Plus I am currently scheduling a deep dive into - 1) the complete works of Dr. Ambedkar 2) Capital by Karl Marx & 3) Critical study of outdated things which I think should be discarded from the canonical literature of Hindusim & Islam! @@indwar-vi2os Shivaji: His Life & Times by GB Mehendale. Very well researched (800 pages out of 1600 are only references & appendices, maps etc.) This book is currently available only on Kindle. Heads up - The author is considered a right wing person. But the book is very detailed & a result of his 30 years of study of documents in Farsi, Urdu, Arebic, English, Portuguese & of course Marathi in Modi (मोडी) script.

सौरभ भैया, मै काफी समय से ज्येष्ठदेव की "गणित युक्तिभाष" पढ़ना चाह रहा था जिसका सटीक अनुवाद के०वी० सरमा ने किया है । यह पुस्तक करीब ₹१५०००/- की है, जो अभी हाल फिलहाल में मेरे आई०आई०टी० दिल्ली के गुरु प्रोफ़ेसर तारक ने मुझे पढ़ने हेतु प्रदान की, जिन्हे उनके JNSCAR के गुरु प्रोफेसर राम ने उन्हे भेंट की थी । यह बात सही है की किताब चोरों पर मुझे बहुत गुस्सा आता है, वे ले लेते हैं और वापिस भी नहीं लौटाते । हद तो तब होती है जब याद दिलाने पर दांत चियार देते हैं, पर किताब नहीं लौटाते । 😊
