Chameleon was my first exotic and I still love it. Your analysis explains what I have been experiencing with it. I’m liking build 3 and 4. I hate shields which slow you down, and restrict movement and vision, so these are looking good. And it’s nice to dig out the Nightwatcher and put it to work too. Great work!

Amazing build showcases. I like build variant 3 and 4 but pretty much any build variant with a Momento is not very usable in group play all the time. Depending on team comp, you might be able to keep your kills up and get the Momento buffs, or folks might kill steal and leave your build weak. It would be nice to have non Momento backpack options for group play or know if the Momento builds are solo/duo only. I see way to many Momento builds when i match make and this usually ends in the 3 other people running the Momento to try and block each other's shots so that they can get the kill. It is a blessing and a curse with the Momento, the thing is super strong, but also super selfish.

Yo, My two are Template 4 then 3. I use the Hunter's Fury build all the time. To me the best gearset in the game. I have a God Rolled Chameleon that I am going to use now. Looks like a good DZ build as well. Great build platform, very modular and adaptable. You are on the Mt. Rushmore of Division 2 builders right now!! Keep it up, we need it.

I think it really is. It’s overlooked by vets cuz it used to be so bad. The devs fixed it, but it just had a bad reputation. Everyone loves the Dark Winter. I do to. But the Chameleon is actually so much better than it. So, make a Dark Winter build and throw on the Chameleon and your shredding through enemies.

Originally we had to unlock it in a season rewards track. Do you have Wony? Assuming you do, your best bet is to use season event red stars to buy exotic caches and weekly projects to earn exotic caches.

I think you'd be best served going for leg shots on red bars first. The health damage AR boost will make up for the reduced leg shot damage, and once you get that fast reload your other stacks will come up faster. Just a tip, as you said, you're killing enemies too fast to make full use of it.

I use mine with 4 piece true patriot, fenris chest, and memento. Only 2 red cores, 1.7 million armour but after one or two kills trust me it shreds. If I feel I want to be close and personal this is the build I go to. Gunner specialisation shield and striker drone. I use this more than my other smg builds.

I had a build with a nightwatcher mask on summit. Needless to say, it was the first time I encountered a player that really disliked pulsing the enemies all throughout the field. And their reasoning is, and this is verbatim, "I constantly hit walls instead of the enemy/ies! It's wasting my ammo!" I kid you not, that's the reasoning.

To answer your ? There are lots of different factors- running solo,pvp,pve,mission toughness,team build desires,build desires,etc. At level 40 you're last 2 templates are absolutes due to synergistic factors. But at level 30 your better of with "measured" on a high damage smh /low rpm then anything unless PVE with rush/intimidate along with Stryker shield. Fallenaces D2 level 30 where it's more pure and less cheesy like level 40

I created a Hunter's Fury build with Backfire but didn't have enough protection avoid the annoying bleed. I had considered swapping to Chameleon and this saw this vid. The Chameleon gives you 90% weapon damage bonus and 50% crit damage bonus. You won’t miss any weapon damage bonus you could have on the build otherwise. Add a Grupo piece and on your way you go. It sounds crazy but really does work!

The 3rd variant is my fav. As a solo player I love bonus armor and AOK, AND I'm currently having a Merciless on my 3 piece Striker build - which I will definitely take down, put it on the new build imma create following your "Merciless build guide vid" and repurpose my Striker to finally use the Chameleon, which although is my fav weapon, I never found a good enough build making it viable for my playstyle. I'm using a similar build to variant 3, but with Obliterate on the chest. 60% CHC and 90% CHD. My Chameleon fires at 1200RPM and my Dark Winter fires at 1400RPM, with super tight bullet spread on both thanks to the strikers and extra handling rolled on. I like the banshee pulse for the extra time it buys me to fire, move, or heal.

I was excited to see the forth build in this video, only to find its almost exactly what I'm running with Chameleon! Only difference is I'm running a Fenris chest piece with 15% weapon damage and the Trauma talent. It's a super fun build with the Spas shotgun as my secondary. I just got the Chameleon last night so I'm still experimenting, but it's a blast so far!

I'd pick no3 but with 4pc striker (mask, chest, holster, gloves), stacking it up with that high rpm at close range. Liquid engineer (Belstone) can provide some good armor stacks. As for kneepads, either Sawyer or Fox Prayer but I'll prefer Sawyer that gives survivability and damage before rushing in prior to the Striker charges. Find a good spot, rinse and repeat!

I followed a very similar build progression to yours over the last few months gear wise but I went one step farther and now use Negotiators Dilemma. It addresses the kills for bonus armor "issue" because your kill rate goes up quite a bit. If you consider that you can be tripling 100% of your crit damage for a lot of the time--60% of the time if you have maxed out crit chance--it is hard to ignore that much extra damage. It does require you to adapt your play style but once you get used to it you are dealing out essentially two or more times the pain of any other build configuration. Two other points on Chameleon. I don't agree with most You Tube build guides about the leg shots not being important as they "only" boost reload speed. I proc the buffs in order, legs, body, then head shots. This is better because of the second interesting item on Chameleon. That 45 second timer on the buffs resets when combat ends. If you use the District Union Arena mission as an example most combat sections are 15 to 30 seconds then a 15 second or so run to the next combat section. If you have say 10 seconds left on the timer with you close combat on a section, that timer resets to 45 seconds. This means you will have all three buffs most of the mission--say 85% or 90% of the time. Why would you not want that extra reload speed for all that combat time?

This gun would go nicely with ND as you mentioned. Good one. I like going for head shots first to get that crits up, so when I’m getting those body shots they mean more, then I make my way to the legs. Have you used it in golden bullet? Oh my.

I use a shotgun but hardly use it cause you lose stacks when you switch out of chameleon. There is a meter with three disks next to the gun. When they’re who’re the talent is kicked in. The mask keeps ta short cool down on the scanner so you can use it a lot. Thanks for the tip on the music!!!

I love using the banshee, close and destructive even against rogues. Although, I always feel like I spend more bullets to kill. Now the only thing I want to know is how to have good connection stability, that's my biggest enemy, worse than any boss, rogue or a hunter because the enemy always focus on me, they don't even recharge or hide and walk towards me like nothing. Anyway, they are good recommendations, although the hunter's fury builds with chameleon is highly recommended but I am still lost in how it works.

I thought it was an assault rifle? I know it’s modeled after the Vector but it’s the assault rifle variant. So they would require different builds. An AR build for the Chameleon and an SMG build for the Dark Winter?

Yes. You are correct. Mostly. The main point was to think like your assembling an smg build, except use AR pieces. Until you get to template 4. It actually runs Hunters Fury and performs along side the ar builds. Perhaps better when it comes to survivability.

Not bad builds. But you can try tecnician, 4x negotioators dilemma(3-blue/1red with crit dmg), 1x fenris vest with intimidate/obliterate(red) and memento. or use 4x patriot(blue),fenris vest and memento. will be more profit.

Like all 4 build build variants my fav is the striker build. You gave me idea to try 3 piece patriot build with momento backpack, Fenris chest Obiliterate and Gila guard overwatch mask

I LOOOOVE the "CAM"-ELON since it was released! Such an amazing exotic and I enjoyed your variant builds for the greater weapons' use. I use 4-piece True Patriot, Ridgeway's Pride and W&H or Fenris Group. I love the explosions added effect with TP! 😇👍

i use strikers battlegear the mask chest holster knees and gloves it needs 12.0 critical damage and backpack is memento that needs also as mod 12.0 critical damage it works so much better but this build is also sick big props bro

Chameleon only works well with a couple of builds, hint heartbreaker is one of them, you don’t get the linked laser pointer but I never seemed to have needed it, most of my shots are headshots only with the Chameleon I have to intentionally go for the body at times, I’d say normally that 65% or more of my shots are head shots, and I play on Xbone with a controller. I like running Chameleon and a back up smg with my heartbreaker build because that way I don’t have to worry about working crit chance into my build as much; laziness is the mother of invention 😂
