4" Chop Master Chassis Swap -- Finalizing Front Body Mounts and Starting Floor Fabrication - Part 32

This video is kinda all over the place... I had to take the front clip off to work on the front sill and body mounts, then I started fabrication for the structure of the front floor. Still got a lot done this week.
So... Lots more to do but we are making progress. As soon as the floor is in I'm actually feeling pretty good about the build making it to RatStock 2024...
I have said many times, I am not a professional and this is a hobby and I'm just having fun building this thing and learning along the way. Thank you for all the great comments as well!!!

Thoughts: Front body mount points in the 3x1 use a crush tube , hole the size of bolt ur going to use with a larger hole only on top ,use steel tube little bigger an a bigger again washer .when you go to tighten it down you won't crush the 3x1 and will be tighter than a fish's well you get gist lol .great work on the floor. 👍

Got it I know what you mean - when I made my transmission crossmember and I was tightening the nuts on my bolts I was actually collapsing the frame a little bit, so clearly want to avoid that

I feel that by stacking those one bys in the door sill it will add more rigidity to the body. Getting closer!

Sure … but my understanding is “weld through” primer is supposed to be welded through … even has a picture on the can !!??

For the steering box issue, why not cap it off and turn it into a license plate mount? Then you wouldn’t have to look at the notch while having it hidden.

If those commenting about the difference between front and rear fenders had bothered to at least google photos of 37 Chevs before commenting they wouldn't have made fools of themselves. I had an Aussie 38 Chev ute and the fenders and running boards were the same as Marek's sedan.

The only issue i see is support for your seats and not bolting them to sheet metal!

Yeah so I have thought about this … the old seats have brackets that are on a really awkward angle anyways … so what I’m thinking is make a new mount and bracket and weld an 1/8” plate on all 4 corners and then that will weld to the floor. Kinda like a roll cage would be welded to the floor on a uni body car??

Weld thru primer sucks to weld, I've had a little better luck with the copper colored weld thru primer. But in general they suck!

I know that sounds weird regarding running boards, but what I'm considering is running side pipes (Like where running boards would be...) and I will have to fabricate the whole thing... I need to finish the floor first and make sure I get the motor running before I commit to running boards... I'll keep you posted

How about on the front bumper, you cut it in half, so the grille can stick out and the bumper stops at the grille cut to the angle of the grille.?

I was thinking about cutting eight or 10 inch sections off of the end of the bumper I have and then making it vertical ….? Like 2 kind of “bumperettes” ?? If that makes sense ?
