Understood inheritance but why we even require directed inheritance and why is it mandatory ? Even if it is mandatory why only work group class or subclass is required ?

Without direct inheritance the pega OOTB rules present in Work- class will not be able to be accessed. That is why it is important and mandatory.

Pegasystems hire freshers directly from many colleges where they don't require to be certified.
