In the last 2 years, since I started showing on KZbin project prototypes built with computer vision I have been contacted by workers of different industries, and Farm is one of them.
First they wanted to validate their idea, whether improving some processes inside their farm was possible through computer vision then they would explain the main reason why they wanted to do it.
"Now we need to do this process manually, and it takes a lot of time, especially if you have hundreds of animals to work with on a daily basis".
"If we could do this automatically with a camera, it would save a lot of time and costs for our farm".
I'm going to share with you some of these ideas, and also technical tips on how you could develop them with computer vision.

As a CV2 hobbyist and a farmer this video made me chuckle. CV2 expert says to farmer " I can track the drinking habits of your herd of 100 milk cows with computer vision. All I need you to do is to do a photo shoot for each of your cows" LOL. While these scenarios could work with CV, there are easier, cheaper and more reliable ways to do this. RFID tags for individual differentiation and PIR for movement detection come to mind. I would like to see the cow weighing by camera experiment, if you can get consistent results closer than 20 Kg in a real world setting I would be impressed. Sometimes the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) method needs to be explored first. I have learned a lot from your channel. Keep up the good work.

Hi Keith, thank you for your input. The Cow weighting by camera solution is an idea that has been proposed by some farmers as they claim they could weight with a good accuracy the cow by measuring their chest. I believe with the right instruments, research and development it will be possible to do that with a good precision.

Hi, I gave some tips about weight prediction in this video. I might bring some more in depth videos in the future about it as well if there is interest for that

Great video and explanation man! Thanks Could you guide which method of computer vision use in each one of the 4 projects? 1. Bounding box 2. Segmentation 3. ? 4. ?

I find myself very interested to use computer vision in detection of crushing piggy events when they are smashed by their mother pork. What you recommend me in that case?

the 3rd is about tracking (so follow the trajectory of a single object over time), while the 4th is about detection (check if a specific object is inside a predefined area)

@@eyamilabraham this might be a complex scenario as a big mother pork might cover most of the time her children from the camera view. This is a problem that needs to be investigated further to find the best approach

subtitles are automatically generated by youtube, I think they're working now. it was probably a temporary problem only at the release of the video as they were not available yet
