( if you don't know what boondocking is ) -Boondocking is camping without hookups in undeveloped, primitive, remote campsites. Camping without hookups means camping without hooking up your RV's electricity, water, and/or sewer connections to those provided by a campground. If a campground provides even one connection, you've technically not boondocked.

You mean it's NOT getting ready to LISTEN TO NEW BOOZE & BOOS, phone in hand, all fresh sheets & everything on your bed that you ACTUALLY MADE for once (ya know, because you put new sheets on? Sooo, one of the ONLY times your bed ever gets made up & consequently, "turned down" to get into for the night all pretty & organized-like?!) And you toss back your sheet that's perfectly stretched across the underside of you comforter... You start to slide a foot underneath it but- something causes you to pause mid-motion? "What- did I imagine that? PLEASE tell me I imagined that?! I definitely DID NOT see a small, dark TAIL wriggle down under the blanket at the foot of my FRESHLY MADE UP BED?!" *Abandon your dainty routine of crawling into your perfectly turned-down bed like you're a damn princess & instantly transition into redneck tomboy AWW HELL NAH mode as you grab the nearest beating/flipping/pokey-stick type of object* Ahhh yes. This here dollar store hideous tube of wrapping paper will do perfectly? *Grabs top edge of sheet/blanket with left hand while holding battering wrapping paper tube in right hand and count yourself down while steeling yourself to make the inevitable FLIP* 3....2... 1 1/2... 1.... uhhh, ZERO! *FWOOOOP* "AHHHH MOTHERFAUC- LOLA!!!!HOW AND....WHY- WHAT?! WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE A GOD FORSAKEN BAT IN MY BED!?! AND A VERY, VERY ANGRY & ALIVE ONE AT THAT-- HOLY SH- WHY IS IT CRAWLING AT ME USING ITS LITTLE WING-CLAWS?! WHY IS IT SO FAST!? GAHHH FAUCK THIS, LOLAAAAAA, I DON'T WANT IT!!!! TAKE IT BAAÀCK!!!" Ahem. Lola is my kitty. She's a serial killer elite. Gotta say though, she'd only ever left a SKINK in my bed like that before... and she has Nevermind caught a BAT, as far as I know?! But Jesus in just SOOO glad I didn't actually just hop swiftly into bed & stuff my feet down there with that perfectly lively little BAT!? ....this was a few years ago, and I still have a moment of hesitation almost every single time I go to bed & slide my feet down under the covers. Ugh. (Mister Bat got chased out the porch door in Lola's mouth where she swiftly dropped it & it scuttled off through the railing edge, fell straight down like a 3/4oz dead weight before suddenly coming to it's tiny batty senses & flying off drunkenly just a foot or two before hitting the ground) ... Pretty sure it must've like, hit the side of the house high up above where my cat was lounging on the deck or something & she seriously just got super lucky with it landing directly in her paws... And obviously, what's she gonna do?! Bring it to mommy!!! .... Yay!? ... Talk about a BOO!! 🐈‍⬛🐈🦇

Maybe explain the dangers of wilderness before your son went fishing, and not go to sleep while he's out on his own? Glad he's ok and this story didn't end a different, more horrifying way. I hope you learned something too.

The dad in 1st story needs to sort out his priorities. He admits to having experience etc etc, so he knows about the wildlife and I don’t mean the bunnies. He wakes up hours later, it is getting dark, and there is an eerie silence. Aka a predator nearby. His son isn’t back and he can’t see him so let’s start on dinner????!!! Oh never mind his son has a flashlight and a pocket knife. It’s all good. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 First off, it is the child’s first time out in the woods and you didn’t discuss the dangers BEFOREHAND? Father of the year here.

Yeah that and the fact that mountain lions scream for mating reasons, not to lure prey. It definitely means they’re near by and to be on guard because you will never hear a mountain lion sneak up on you, ever. Edit: It’s not technically a “vixen’s scream,” but foxes, bobcats and mountain lions make mating screams.

You know there’s a crazy story somewhere about a man and his wife having sex in the woods and seeing a ‘creepy’ man watching them and holding a machete and how a chase went on for hours and hours only in that story they were the scared ones and he was the stalker. People often erroneously say that mountain lions are scared of people or really try hard to avoid people. It's just not true. I've seen them from Iowa to Oregon. Many other states. It's true that you're not their preferred prey, and it's true that they generally stay away from campsites and heavily used trails ...so does their prey. They don't make noise when they are hunting, obviously, so they weren't hunting that boy. A grown male is upwards of 200 pounds and can easily be 6 feet long. Basically, it's a man with claws and fangs

I was wondering why the first story annoyed me so much, and I think I figured out why; the story is just a creative writing exercise. Feels as though he is trying too hard to be descriptive, and it takes away from the 'horror' vibe of the story. Don't get me wrong, I say this knowing most of these stories are made up, but this one disrupts the immersion by trying too hard to be immersive.
