Instead of cutting the sock, I stuff one inside the other, the loop it around, pushing the bottom into the top. it stays pretty secure too.

To do a snake braid you do a regular braid,then hold the middle part of the braid then push up the two side sections then kinda pancake it down flat :) if you didn't understand x
