As an avid hiker, the Laugavegur Trail and the Fimmvörðuháls Trail in Iceland were calling our names. The Laugavegur (55km) connects to the Fimmvörðuháls (25km), pairing together to bring hikers through an array of incredible terrain. From beginning our journey in Landmannalaugar, with its windswept rhyolite mountains and natural geothermal pools, to concluding our hike in Skogar next to the iconic Skogafoss waterfall, our four-day trek in Iceland reminded us of just how incredible our planet is - and just how incredibly lucky we are to explore it!
Our four days consisted of hiking amongst scattered steam plumes, crossing erie black sand deserts, wading through cold glacial rivers, scaling mountains, and carefully scrambling across wet ridges. And of course, hiking just days before the official end of the Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls hiking season, we ran into some gnarly weather. But hey, that’s Iceland. Poor weather is to be expected, right?
Anyways, enjoy this cinematic 4K piece from our time hiking along the trail.
