Varanasi, or Benaras, (also known as Kashi) is a holy city on the Ganges river in northern India that has a central place in the traditions of hindu pilgrimage.
The land of Varanasi (Kashi) has been the ultimate pilgrimage spot for Hindus for ages. Abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati, the origins of Varanasi are yet unknown.
The city has been a center of learning and civilization for over 3000 years. Ganges is said to have its origins in the tresses of Lord Shiva and in Varanasi, it expands to the mighty river that we know of. Sarnath, the place where Buddha preached his first sermon after enlightenment, just 10 km away.
The second place visited in this video is Ayodhya. Ayodhya is one of the most religious places in India. This is the birthplace of Lord Ram and hence, holds great spiritual significance among the devotees of the Hindu religion. This holy city is situated in Uttar Pradesh. Ayodhya used to be called Saketa in ancient times and was the capital city of the Kosala Kingdom. With Ayodhya being the birth city of Lord Rama, it has been considered one of the most important tourist destinations for Hindu devotees.
